Tempo problem with sample.
Hello everyone,
Im having a problem with getting the tempo of my sample matched up with the tempo on the sequencer song. Here is what I did:
I created a song on the sequencer.. I started using up all the polyphony with multiple layered strings so I "re-sampled" the song, allowing me to add more tracks to free up polyphony. I sampled the song using the Auto trigger with an auto trigger level of 1 figuring the start time of the song should be perfectly aligned with the start of the recording.
I saved the sample, created a new song, imported the sample as an audio track and began to add new tracks to finish the song.
The problem is that when the song starts out, the click tempo you use when recording sounds like it is in sync with the audio track, however as the song progresses, it becomes progressivly out of sync. The original song that I resampled had a tempo of 92, and that is what I set the new song tempo to. If you look at the sample parameters, the BPM is set to 92. The original resampled song and the new song have no time/tempo changes in them. What am I doing wrong?
Any help would be appreciated...
BTW - I have an X8 if that matters....

Re: Tempo problem with sample.
No one has any ideas?
I have to have this song done by Thursday as it will be used in a wedding on Saturday.
I searched the forums and saw the posts referring to the wave tempo sync, so I thought that might be it.....
Well you have to go into patch edit to change that setting, but my sample is not being used as a patch, its assigned as an audio track so I dont see how I can change that setting as an audio track. So.....
Then I tried assigning the sample to a pad. I changed the wav tempo sync setting under patch edit to ON, played the sample and still cannot get the tempo click track to sync with the sample....
I am out of ideas....

Hello,
I think the problem is when using the Auto trigger function, the exact time of the recording start, could not be the very first tempo of the song.
Maybe if using Re-sampling as recording an audio track, will solve your problem, because when you press play or start, from the Audio Rec Standby window, the recording will start from the beginning of the first measure.
More info on page 24 of the Audio Owner`s Manual.

Re: Tempo problem with sample.
Im not sure I understand what your saying Alexandre, I created the sample already using the Re-sample method. Are you saying that you cannot set a sample to start at the very beginning of a sequence?
Re: Tempo problem with sample.
You created using the Re-sample method but with auto trigger on.
Try without auto trigger. Create a new sample from the audio track to resample your song, using the method I described in my previous message.
The idea is, start the sampling method from the beginning of the first measure and not wait the auto trigger.

Re: Tempo problem with sample.
OK...
If I resample the song, is there a way to have the sampling start automatically at the first measure of the song? As far as I can tell, you have to manually press star/record after pressing play on the sequencer. There is an option I think to start it based on beat, but I think I tried that and it didn't do anything.....

Re: Tempo problem with sample.
Ok I understand what your saying after looking at page 24 in the audio manual. I am trying this method as we speak. I will let you know if this worked.....Thanks....
Re: Tempo problem with sample.
Try this:
1. Load your midi song that you want to resample
2. Press audio track edit in the F buttons
3. Hit Record and this open de Audio Rec Standby window
4. Choose Resampling
5. Press start
The sequencer start automatically your song and at the same time, starts to resampling.
When the song finish, save your new sample.
This new sample will be in sync with your new song, when imported to an audio track.
Let me now if this solve your problem.

Re: Tempo problem with sample.
No luck....
I did just what you listed in your last message, and by the time I get half way thru the song, its starts going out of sync, its gradual.....the farther along the song, the more it gets....
I dont understand it.............
What good is the audio track feature if it cant keep time on a track that was created on itself.........
Im frustrated.
Any other ideas?

The best I can do it for you is, if you wish, send me your SVQ file and I`ll try figure out with my fantom what`s going on. Email me to :

Re: Tempo problem with sample.
I remember having this problem with my Fantom (X7). It was set on a specific value, and I wasn't sure if that value was indeed the tempo it used. So I compared it with the tempo of my Yamaha Tyros, and I was suprised to conclude that the Fantom's 120 BPM was significantly slower than the Tyros's 120 BPM.
Eventually I got it right by resetting the tempo on the Fantom. Maybe I even switched back and forth between path-mode and mixer mode and played with the tempo in both modes to make sure it was ok. At the end, I got things in sync, but to me, it obviously was a bug.
So try the following: switch to patch mode, and adjust the tempo (just rotate the wheel). At the end, set it to the the intended tempo. Do the same in mixer-mode. If you can, verify the tempo with another device. Once it matches, try your resampling again.
Good luck.
