Playing legato fast and notes getting stuck

I own a fantom x6 and now a x7 and i always have this problem that when i play real fast the notes get stuck. I mean in 32's i can play maybe the first 12 then they get stuck...let me know if you have the same problem. only in legato though. not when playing staccato. Peace

Can you upload an audio sample of this problem? A number of things can cause this so a sample may help us narrow it down.

Can i upload to this forum? If so how do i do it? BTW...the sound is mono and i checked the polyphony...its stays at 3. thanks for the response.

Good call, polyphony was my first guess.

A second one would be that maybe system exclusive messages were slowing down your Fantom.

Is the sequencer running when this happens?

the audio...slow at first and then kinda at the speed it should be played.

I think that may just be the effect the distortion effect has on that instrument, to crate harmonics. It happens when you hold down one key and play others. Turn off the effect to confirm this.

After listing to that sound a few more times it sounds like it could have been made using the FMX patch edit parameter. So maybe when the key is hit at a certain velocity level (or something to that effect) a new tone sounds.

First try setting the velocity for your keyboard to a level like 58 and see if it happen. If it still happens the next thing to do would be to go to patch edit and cut off tones one by one to see which one is creating the effect. If you are unsure of how to do this write back and I'll give you steps. But it does not sound like a bug. Is that the only patch it happens with?

No, it happens to a patch called PG-g:087actual analog, in the hard leads section too. I will try your suggestions now, Thanks.

I have searched everywhere still no result or reason why this happens but it is still happening. If you guys find a solution please let me know. Still love my keyboard though.

You said this happens with only two patches so the chance of this sound being an intentional part of the patch design is very high. Of course if it happed on every patch the odds that your Fantom is malfunctioning would be higher. Especially if it’s not hooked up to anything and it’s never happened before. Did this happen the first time you used this patch?

I’m not near a Fantom-X at the moment, but all that’s needed is for a few people to confirm that this happens for them as well. If not then it’s a glitch and you should take your X to a service center.

Still love my keyboard though.

Hey, don’t let some of the debating that goes on here fool you. A lot of us have been here a long time so we understand each others online personality. And because of that sometimes we get a little personal with each other. But it’s much like two brothers (not really trying to hurt each other) fighting.

Hey guys can someone confirm this for us, check patch PG-G:087 actual analog for a strange harmonic effect when you play the keys hard or when you run up the keyboard. eltonafrodziac, if you could provide the other patch name (the one we are working with) that would be helpful as well.

check the legato retrigger switch - see if its position makes a difference

yes- turning legato retrigger to "on" seems to eliminate the sticking problem on pr-g:87 actual analog
