New Video: Multisample Overview

Post by Dan Krisher »

Annonce! Annonce! Il y a un nouveau vidéo sur mon canal de YouTube!

I had a request on my YouTube channel to do a video on how to Chop up a sample, then use the Multisample function added in 1.10 to arrange the samples across the keyboard. Please check it out. Thanks.

Dan, there are no words really for the amount of work you've put into this instrument. It's one thing to see this writen on the manual, and it's totally different to see this live in a video tutorial, giving real-life examples of what every function of this beast can be used for, and how to do it. What you do is simply priceless.

I believe I'm speaking on behalf of all the Fantom-G enthousiasts when I say: THANK YOU SO MUCH. :)

Yes agreed, I am quick enough to bash Roland in other threads so credit where it is due.

Good work Dan. Much appreciated.

Hi Dan,
First, thanks to be here now on Roland Clan. Its really a great pleasure !

This last video is very good and give us good ideas to use the sampling function. Merci ! ;-)

But now, when i speak about multisampling, i think that there's something that a lot of G users want to know :
Is it possible to you to show us a video of how to create a new patch (synth sound for example suitable along all the keyboard) from samples recorded from an external rack expander for example or electric bass, etc.. ?
Wihich note du we have to record ? Hoxw many ??

Thanks !

Ps: Tu parles français ?

That's the next one I am doing as we speak. Essentially, I'm going to show how to physically sample another keyboard into the Fantom-G, then arrange those samples into a Multisample list and hence into a patch. Hopefully that one will be done by this weekend.

The issue with the number of notes depends completely on the complexity of the sound. For instance, if I was sampling a Mini Moog, I could probably get away with fewer samples compared to if I was sampling a complex patch from a newer synth or soft-synth...

Dan, while your at it, you could throw in a chapter on how to 'render' internal patches to an audio track (studio mode), I had to scratch my head a minute myself when doing it the first time... I mean it's pretty much the same as when sampling external sounds, so it would probably fit your tutorial well.. ?

For the French language challenged:

"Yes, I study French at a university near my house. I'm in year two." :)

Thank you soooo much Dan for realizing the need of Fantom G owners (and prospective owners) ;) and fullfilling that need with us here at Roland Clan. :) I can also thank the higher up's at Roland Japan too because without their go ahead this could not have happened, nor to the degree that it is unfolding before our eyes. All I can say is Bravo! - to you, to Jim, to Mike, and to all the others from Roland U.S. who happen to take part in this communication and customer support effort rekindled anew by Roland Corp. for those of us here at Roland Clan. Many thanks to everyone involved in this renewed effort and may it continue to grow and thrive for many years to come. :)

Everyday I learn more and more about the G and you've been a massive help, Dan. Thank you very, very much for doing this and presenting it in such a concise, but thorough, manner.

Hi Dan , you told about suggestion,,,,,,

I like to view a video with multisamplers voices. But Choral Voices , like SOV samplers(Symphony of Voices).

I think the worst patches in ALL keyboards (Roland, Korg,Yamaha, etc) is the Voices patch.....

I'm older user of KORG and now I got the G7

Sorry my BAD english
