Any computer programmers who know how to create an OS update
I know this is possible because an anonymous user of Akai's MPC has done it for other MPC users and takes request for each individual. I want to kno if any fantom X users capable of this???
Re: Any computer programmers who know how to create an OS up
LOL Let me guess: You'd like that person to fix all the bugs, provide feature enhancements, while they're at it, speed up the file system, and provide ongoing support and future upgrades? Are you offering to pay for this, or hoping a frustrated and talented user will do this for nothing?
What A beautiful dream!
The JJ os for the MPC is a fluke. A fluke that made me buy an MPC 1000. I am a long time Roland user and would have never bought an Mp if it were not for the JJ Operating System. From what I have read, JJ seems to have been one of the original programmers for the 1000 and 2500. For some reason, this programmer released his own operating system that fixed many of the bugs that existed in the original OS and added an amazing list of features. Realizing that the main differences between the 1000 and 2500 were minimal, he added almost all of the features from the 2500 to the 1000, along with many features that had never been available for any MPC. JJ also takes requests. If he sees that the request is possable he just may add it to the OS. Often within days. DAYS!
What this shows me, as I have mentioned a few times, is that all of these companies are capable of adding features and fixing bugs in a timely manner. Adding features is just icing on the cake, but fixing bugs is a must. I think that is a very important distinction, and Roland seems to be pretty good when it comes to fixing bugs.
I highly doubt that we will ever see something along the lines of a JJ OS for any Roland product, or any other product by any other company for that matter. JJ is something that we will probably never see again, so enjoy it while it lasts...
I will.
But I can't help but dream right along with you mr. claudio...

Actually there is an exclusive secret society of blogs that do favors such as upload Full Versions of software with key generators,as wel as VST's, Plugins, and OS update requests free of charge. Anyway my answer is No to your little "GUESSTIMATION". I dont expect anything but a simple change. I wanted every track in the sequencer to have seperate color bars instead of all blue.

U still there GRAEME??
Re: Any computer programmers who know how to create an OS up
yep, I'm still here
Indeed, I have been generous with my own time and programming, and found both demand and expectations to be high. In an unknown operating system, some changes are easy such as text changes and *sometimes* code parameters such as colors.
Good luck finding someone to take this on (really!). Of course, this is good motivation for you to learn these skills yourself

Re: Any computer programmers who know how to create an OS up
i just asked rolandus and they gave me an email address (fumiew@rolandus.com) to send inquires and requests for product programming improvements and suggestions. I'll see how far that will get me. but I agree...I should try to learn this stuff. How would I be able to find out more about this? Are there books or websites?
and how would I change text files and code paremeters? Do i have to connect the fantom to a computer Via usb and go into the internal folders?
