Roland G - When is it shipping?

does anyone know when the G arrives in the UK?

I'm not sure about a specific date but I know they arrive in the UK in early May. I emailed 'Dawsons' in Reading and they replied to me today: "We are expecting the Fantom keyboards to arrive into stock towards the beginning of May....." (referring of course to the G). So I'm not sure if different shops will get them in earlier/later, but its not too long to wait now!

Its just a damn shame I can't afford to buy one yet myself.....I'm just eager to try it out in store asap as I'm 99% sure I'll be buying one of these beasts sometime soon. I think its about time I upgraded from my poor old Fantom-S!

(ps. its not worth starting a new topic in the marketplace forum I don't think......does anyone know how much the Fantom-S sells for nowadays?)

I just received an email from a friend who works for Roland UK and he also said May.So we have to wait abit longer.
I still have my old Fantom S.I'm also thinking of upgrading in the future.

We go through this with every new product. Some questionable internet retailer comes along with a lowball price. Well, you get what you pay for. They can claim anything once they've got your money. How many people have we seen crying the blues with a credit card billed for a synthesizer which they wind up not receiving for weeks or even months after the reputable dealers have them (i.e. Sweetwater)? In short, as always, you get what you pay for and if it looks to good to be true....

I haven't had a problem in the three years I have been buying my Roland equipment from them, always at very good prices. They offer quite fast free shipping for items over certain amount, and they have never charged me before the items ship.

I checked with them today for the availability, and they told me Roland hasn't given them an exact date but it should be soon. Will tell you when I receive my G6.

The other poster said Sweetwater has given them a date. Many people have found the term "soon" to mean anywhere from weeks to months. Certainly this may actually be a great deal from a reputable company who will have Fantom-Gs just a soon as Sweetwater. But in this fiercly competitive information-rich time we live in, I can't believe the big online retailers or Roland themselves would allow such a pricing discrepancy to exist. Certainly Sweetwater, Musician's Friend, and the rest will know about this quickly. It will be interesting to see what happens.

BTW, will someone be willing to call or e-mail Sweetwater to confirm the dates for Fantom-G arrival? (I just don't want to get them calling or e-mailing me frequently)

Jimknopf, thanks for the German date... Thomann already switched from "22nd" to "soon". Now I know at least how long I have to wait.

"Soon" = they expect to receive them this month, since Roland is already allocating a shipment of Roland products to them.

Well, that's what they said. I don't want to get involved in a "my dealer is faster/bigger/better than yours" discussion, I was just sharing my experience because I thought it was useful information. I am also a Sweetwater customer for some products, but it's a pity that they don't carry some brands (eg Behringer) and some products they list on their site are not in stock (happened to me with the Boss MicroBR and just now with the Akai MPD32).

Musicdeals.nl confirms that the Fantom G6 will arrive tomorrow and that the Fantom G8 is currently in stock.

Just got an email from 'them' that 'they' will send 'it' to me next Monday/Tuesday. I probably get it in 2 business days after that... but 1st of May is national hangover day here and thus a holiday. So Friday the 2nd is G-day.

Just got the confirmation from the Roland Space yesterday, that a 1st batch of G's just arrived.
Fantom G6, G7 and G8 are all available for immediate delivery in Portugal NOW !!!

They claim their prices are promotional...

Fantom G-6 = 1.750Eur

Fantom G-7 = 2.050Eur

P.S: I didn't ask about G8's price...I can't afford it anyway...so it's better not to know it...

I'm jealous that Europe is getting theirs first. I wonder if this has something to do with the U.S. Dollar/Euro exchange rate, where lately the U.S. Dollar has lost a good deal of value?

Well, May 1. That's a one week pushback from your earlier e-mail from them. However it's still quite in line with what they say on the product page. I think this means I may be able to plan on a "G" for an important gig I have on May 21. Usually I don't look for new Roland products until mid to late summer. Kudos to Roland for getting this one out much earlier in the cycle.

Oh, I see they've changed the product page to state definitively "May 1". That's a great sign. I think if they hadn't received some new info, they wouldn't have changed their product page.

USA will be delivered 10 days after Europe because it's the time it takes for Roland engineers to finish Fantom G OS !
