Fantom death at the Opera.. Home-style

Post by OMNICELL »

Heres my question... Does anyone know of someone in the Northwest area Of US that they would trust for repairs to thier fantom.. WHY.,..!!!?

I almost had a brush with Fantom Death.

I play hard.. several months ago, I chewed up the brackets that hold the keys...

Connected to these Brackets are some pieces of plastic that keep the sponge pads inline,
the pads that keep the keys from hitting something hard at the top of thier stroke Well..
I got the manual from Roland, had a friend over and we took the S88 apart... What fun... !!

After seeing what needed to be repaired we put it back together, only to find the lower register of the piano did not work anymore-.. Meaning, the pitches and velocity were all off... completely mangled-.. I tried a reset of internals, it didn't work...

So, I got on my knees and preyed. and I said to God-.. OK.. I must need to learn some lessen about humility-.. I will go with out my keyboard for 6 months, or however long it takes to get repaired-.. I had no Idea what was wrong with it.. I told God, I would learn the guitar, and concentrate on song note writing for my songs, and just play on an acoustic piano at church-.. I was willing to except what God had intended...

Then a miracle-.. I tore the beast down again, and reattached the main wiring, making sure it was secure, just on the off chance that it would help... I put the beast back to gather-.. And .... AAAAAAAA.... IT worked .... IT worked......

The moral of the story... If I had to send the S88 to a shabby broker for repair, he could have easily told me that the whole piano hardware inners had to be replaced-.. So 800 to a 1000 dollars... I mean I dont know how much dope this guy may have smoked before he got to my machine...

I realized,,,, I dont know anyone that I trust that could work on my S88..I just dont... and after looking at the internals, it would be easy for a repair guy that was unethical to lei about the problem and charged me triple-.. And that scares me...

I was lucky this time-.. God must just been showing me one of those, IVE DECIDED TO TEACH YOU HUMILITY LESSONS TODAY>>> Kind of thing-..

OK.

Does anyone know someone they really trust with thier ax, that they would go out of thier way to send to... I would really like the back up.... I would really like to know ..... Thanks

Where are you at in the Northwest? I took my X8 to a place in Portland listed as an authorized repair shop on Roland's web site. I knew the symtoms, buy didn't know the problem. It took him a month of scratching his head, and pouring over schematics and diagrams, but he finally found the problem and it only cost me $125.00 to repair.
