Is it considered to be very good? How does it compare to other competing synthesizers out there at the moment?
Also I was wondering.. why does the juno-g have 128 voice polyphony while the GT only supports 28?
I really don't understand why there would be such a difference..
Question about the v-synth gt's polyphony
Re: Question about the v-synth gt's polyphony
V-Synth GT is very different from Fantom-X and Juno-G in the way it generates sound.
Synths like Fantom-X and Juno-G have dedicated microchips that generate sound: the generators, filters, envelopes and LFOs sit right in there. The advantage is that there is no load on the central processor, and you can have more polyphony this way. However, the disadvantage is that the architecture of the sound generator is fixed.
Earlier V-Synth models and the new V-Synth GT are run their sound engine on the central processor only, there is no dedicated chip that does that. You will get slightly less polyphony this way, but not only because there is not dedicated chip, but because the V-Synth has much more complex sound generation technologies. And the main advantage is that the architecture is variable, the synthesizer structure can be configured in many ways.
