MC-808 Error Message

Post by Flaco »

Does anyone know what the hell is going on with the software or unit when it says Unable to write/read data? I just got this unit and can't get the software to work. I see that others have had this problem, but is there any others who don't have this problem? Can anyone help me, this is real frustraiting.

Read//Write error

Post by Mallett »

3 Requirements:

1. Sytem/shift+button 8: set USB mode to Midi.
2. System/shift+button 4: set Soft Through to Off.
3. As 2. right cursor once: Set Remote Kbd Sw to Off.

If that does not work, you will need to backup your work, then do a full factory reset.

I found that the backup and restore actually restores the bug!

Final cure was doing factory reset, and restoring everything I wanted restored by hand. Ouch! Then do a backup!

Good luck.

Do you have to update to 1.03 again after system initialize?

103 update

Post by Mallett »

No.

It is not neccessary to re-install the 1.03 OS.

I discovered that the OS update did not, in fact, fix the problem.

When the problem (read/write error) ocurred for the second time, I re-installed the new update, but it did not fix the problem. The factory reset alone did the trick.

My problem re-occurred because I was restoring from a bad (bugged) backup, I believe.

Things seem to have stabilised, although I still suspect that there is a bad memory card in the unit. I have arranged to replace the main board next week.

I will keep the forum up-to-date with this epic.

Good Luck.

Hi folks!

Yesterday i had an interesting phenomen with this error message: When i started the editor or clicked the "READ" button, communication started and a the progression bar went to aprox. 10%. The it stopped and the error message appeared.

This only happened when i selected card pattern 0001. With all other patterns it worked (ok, tested not all but some of them :-))

Since i modified this pattern i cannot say if the problem was the recorded data or if the problem is pattern CARD 0001.

Ciao, Dirk.

@ob(li)vious

do find a different USB cable. I had the same problems when I used one.

WHen I hanged for another (added to my printer) all is fine. No software changes in the meantime.

What I noticed was that the new cable has slightly bolder plug. It Difference can't be seen but it fits better into the socket.

When got back out of curiosity to the old cable I could observe that if I kept the cable up and thus kept the plug at the right angle to the back panel all worked fine. slight twisting this old cable down (could be due to cable weight) caused error msg. Try the same. You may need to restart (but not reinstall!!) the editor after correcting the insertion.

Helped?
