Paint Is Fading

Post by speedtribe »

I only had fantom for 1 year but the paint on the PLAY button is fading.

Do other fantom owners notice the weakness of the paint? If you owned fantom for a long time is the paint fading?

I use the sequencer often so i press the PLAY button.
the next dissappearing one is the STOP in think but the REC button paint is still ok. maybe ?

I have had my X7 for nearly 3 years and regularly use the Play and Stop buttons. There is no sign of fading or wear whatsoever.

Not sure why yours is fading, but my whole machine looks as new as when I bought it.

X7 All the way!!!

I have the same problem with my RD700. Maybe we put our finger on the label and not only on the button..

Please, Please don't take offence gentlemen but Do you wash your hands before playing your Fantom X?
I always makes sure my hands are clean before I play my X. I appreciate if your a gigging musician as this is not always possible but you would be suprised by how much hands caked in sweat, food etc will make your buttons feel horrible and how the acid in your sweat my take the paint off gradually over a period of time!

You absolutely need to keep your hands clean (wash them before playing) ... AND ... wipe down the Fantom about once a week ... more if it's hot and sticky out ...

it's the oils that do it ...

sorry to hear about it ... but it's not really that big of a deal ...

For me, two years and no fading ...

Here's a tip if you're nervous .... use the D-Beam to stop and start.

I've heard this happening with other keyboards as well. While I believe some of them can be attributed to manufacturers defect, I thnk in most cases something else is occuring. Washing your hands is very important. Sometimes certain things on your hands can cause this with oils certainly being one of them. Beleive it or not th esoap you use could also play a part in this. There are a number of things whcih may be causing this condition. If you are washing your hands, try using a different soap and see if that helps.

I suppose you could use latex gloves, that would stop the oils getting into your synth and contaminating it. also try not to use the keyboard if you have the flu as this could further deteriorate the membranes with molecules of phlegm.

I had a chuckle reading this one. . . . . .

The paint on my 'Play' button is completely gone. In all honesty, I didn't think it was a big deal because the button gets used a lot and it seemed like a natural occurrence. This is in a home studio environment, but I'm not saying where my hands have been!

As long as I know where the button is I don't mind. I never considered it a defect because any gear that I've had (including everyday home appliances) that gets used a lot has had this happen. Am I just cursed?

Could it have anything to do with the higher latitudes or maybe a lack of women? (smile, ducks)

Hmmmm. . . .

178 men for every 34 women (on a good day when no one dies). . . . . 11 month winters. . . . . . you might be on to something, D.

(Apologies to speedtribe for going slightly off-topic).

ok ok, I have the solution!! Wear this (http://www.sullacrestadellonda.it/subac ... bianco.jpg) before, and during playing the X or any other synth or any other component in which your DIRTY hands can deteriorate the membranes with molecules of phlegm!!!
