man, this is a bummer. i was in the process of trying to update the OS on my 808 and i went through the motions of backing up the data to my CF card. then i see that you need another CF card to update the OS so i saved everything (the backup) from my CD card to the hard drive on my laptop and then copied the update files to the CF card. once the update was complete, i deleted the update files from the CF and loaded the backup files back on.. however, when i put the CF card in the 808 and went to "system > user restore, i get an error message that says "illegal file!"
HELP!
i had SO MANY patterns that i can't imagine losing..

with the update comes a new folder structure for the cf !
so do following hold the backup on the pc !
format the cf with the mc 808!
now copy over all files from pc(with pc) to the cf (dont format hold the structure)!
