MPC4000 vs. MV8000 vs. DAW

Post by Somebody »

Is anyone here well-versed in both DAW and MPC sequencing? Which do you prefer? Detailed opinions please. Also, what's the word on the MV. I read the specs and it's an obvious MPC4k opponent. What do you expect from Roland?

Aside from all of the minute details, the two major features are the 8 audio tracks of recording along side the MIDI tracks, and the ability to use an LCD monitor and mouse/keyboard (available as a "future" update).

My only concern is the feature the MPC's have to kick in and out of overdub record and erase record. That is a real creativity enhancer. Sometimes you want to try an extra line on top of what you've just done, and other times you want to go with a completely new track. If the MV doesn't have overdub record, then that's a major sticking point for me.

As far as i understand the MV8000 does not really offer 8 channels of recording in the classical sense. The audio has to be loaded into ram to be played back.

chronic2,

Please post this in the 'Marketplace' section, not tagged onto a 2 year old thread.

I suppose it's a matter of choice really, any daw can sequence great, I like the mpc because of it's interactability, it works for me, some prefer the daw route, that's fine, figure out what you want in a sequencer and go from there
