1. Is the Vocal Designer part immediately available as soon as you choose the structure or does it have to load in?

Yes!

2. Knowing hom much sampling memory is available would be very nice!

64 for GT 50 for original V. Yes I was screaming for more too!

3. UK price?

I don't know that one, sorry

4. Has the sample editor changed?

It may have some updates, not sure. The V-Synth I had did not have that screen available.

5. Are there improvements to the Variphrase facility?

No.

6. Is the clicking problem in loops solved? (there was a workaround of moving a few cycles but I'd prefer it was properly fixed)

Again, my prototype did not have that screen.

7. What exactly is AP? So far I've heard some kind of altering of the attack portion.. but what exactly is it? Its not a collection of phrases a'la Motif is it?

AP changes waveforms and adds other noises depending of which model you choose. So, in theory you will be able to use your own voice via vocal designer and apply the articulation of a flute. It's not like the Motif.
I still haven't had a chance to explore much of this my self. I only had a semi-working V-Synth GT for 2 weeks before NAMM. There is still a lot more to come from V-GT.

Finally.... final!

Cheers

Thanks Jim.

Your participation in this forum and this topic is invaluable. We all really do appreciate it. And I agree; for ~$3000 US, we deserve more than 64 MB of non-expandable sample RAM. RAM is cheap these days.

Hey Jim, glad you survived NAMM once again! Send me an email at dgerlach@yahoo.com and I'll send you uncompressed copies of the booth photos that we took last Friday. Oh yea, check out my profile, I updated it with a photo of me and the Peavey guitar girls! Next year we've got to go out and grab a beer together.

Hi Jim

Please advise if there will be any OS updates to the original V-Synth Keyboard or will 2.0 be the final version?

Is there any possibility AP will be added to the original V-Synth or the XT?

Thanks

I've seen the unofficial demo video and the specs, and honestly spoken, I'm really glad that I've got one of the last V-Synths v 2.0 recently. It's an excellent instrument with a lot of possibilities. The GT hasn't got much more imho except for the doubled price, which is a bit of a disappointment for those who considered to get one. Maybe the final product will get some improvements (e.g. sample memory) over this early version?

After all the classic V-Synth definitely does the job for me, although, according to marketing logic, I doubt that there will be any update to v 3.0 for the V-Synth. Also I don't see much possibility for a new V-Card, since the GT hasn't got the slot.

Well, gee, since no-one else has asked, does the 'GT' moniker imply that this is the V-Synth Grand Touring edition, or perhaps the V-Synth Gran Turismo?

Gūd Tunes, right?

Kerrik,

Japan did not let on to any new os updates to the XT or the orinal V.
So, I would have to say no...

Prix,
You are right on. The orginal V and XT are great synths, there is nothing wrong with them at all. I had met alot people at the NAMM show who thought their V's were obsolete! I had one guy who wanted to fight me on the floor of the NAMM show about this. He said he just bought a V-Synth and now his purchase was a waste of money. He was pissed at me!
Like I personally screwed him over. After calming him down I made him understand that his V Synth was still a very powerfull sound creation tool.

The botton line is that the V-Synth GT is going to be very cool but, I wanted more RAM, different filters and some more Variphrase tricks. Keep in mind that at the end of the day I'm V-Synth guy just like everybody here.

I do see where the GT is going and it's going to be able to create some amazing new sounds as well as perfomaces. When you combine AP with Vocal Designer and 2 Oscillators of Variphrase and Analong modeling at the same time, you can't help but get some cool sound! I will be keeping you guys posted for sure.

Also, I guess as the GT isn't finished things could change with regard to what the GT can do.
