It's by design, I read somewhere in the manual that samples cannot be played back more than 2 octaves above or below their root note. So it's not a bug, it's a (stupid) feature.

I agree, dumb feature.

A possible workaround (but tedious to do): define a rhythm patch, and assign the sample you want to every key across the desired range, setting the root key as you wish; there doesn't seem to be a restriction on the base note of rhythm samples (try pitching them up really high, they start to sound in reverse for me, which could be useful for some cool messed up sounds).

I wish multisamples worked more like the rhythm set editor -- at least with rhythm sets you can re-use a single copy of a sample on mulitple keys, you can pitch it up/down as much as you want, and you can change the pitch of individual samples after creation.

Well actually the higher the sampling rate is the less up wards the sample will stretch.

placing a sample across the entire keyboard is useless after 2 octaves the sample is streched into a sinewave variation with no actual resemblance to the original sound and you may see issues with pitch being off the easiest way to work around this is to create a multisample at different octaves and then your entire keyboard will have acurate samples

I don't think it is stupid not to stretch one single key sample to go across the entire keyboard. Infact, some very low end kiddie keyboards have that feature. Anyone like those keyboards.?

you can do this you need to assign the sample to the keyboard not to a multisample... that should fix your problem.. just did it a few seconds ago...
