Drum kits - standard GM

Post by acmcp »

Is there any in box drum kit that follows the GM drum key mapping?

Drum Midi standard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_MIDI

I understand I can create my own drum kits any way I want ... but I just wanted to quickly play few drum midi files exported from Guitar Pro.

Thanks,

Do you mind listing some rhythm sets that follow this standard?

Thanks

What do you mean?

I believe all the rhythm sets in the G follow the standard MIDI key mapping...

Well not all but most of them. Still the basic GM kits are there.

Once I played an imported midi I noticed that drums where not playing with the "expected" sounds. I am using - Drums standard kit 1.

For example D# - 39 - Hand Clap - This sound was present in a percussion kit, not a drum.

I'll probably go through tje list of all the inbox kits before asking questions. :)

I made little conversion lists in excel for the M3. As you said, while the mapping is similar, it's just not optimal on any of the workstations. But I've stopped believing I can import and midi material into any keyboard and not have work (editing) to do.

The only thing truly standard is that I had to continuously remap everything.

Another M3 gotcha, when they upgrade and gave use more patches all the combi's had to be remapped.

The rythm sets following the Midi Standard have GM Standard in their name :). I promise I will not ask again before looking.
