Midi File Import - Tempo problem

I have sequenced a song using Cubase but the FG as sound source. The song starts slowly then accelerates in tempo. I have imported it as a SMF into FG8.
Frighteningly ( for performance) when loading up from Favourites it occasionally starts at the wrong tempo - I think it is at the fastest tempo in the song. I go back and play it again and the tempo map (accel.) is correct.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong or what might be happening - I certainly don't want this happening on the performance.

You need to make sure that in the 1-01-000 position of the tempo track, you have the tempo change event set to your initial tempo.
