Hi there,
I would like to open a thread with an up to date bug or wish list for roland, to raise the pressure for an update.
There are still som things going along with the JS which makes me very unhappy. Feel free to add your issues.
- Make it possible to store CC11 (expression) in a performance
- The cpu performance (or the cache settings, or whatever) of the mp3 player is much to weak. It depends on the USB stick you use, how strong this effects (drop outs while playing), but even with the best result the tones while playing along with it are stuttering and having a little irregular short latency.
- The reverb/chorus knobs are useless, when using a MFX, because they set the value only for the direct signal. And using the MFX is the most fun of this keyboard. So they are useless the most time. Whats about setting this more intelligent?
- MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO STORE MORE THAN ONE BACKUP ON AN USB STICK!!!!! I have several projects, and telling me "USB sticks are so cheap, buy one for every project" is not a solution in 2010. With luck I can store 2 sticks in the slot, depending on its size. That is not enough, and its a question of time, that I sit on stage and realize the right USB stick lying at home or having been stolen backstage.
Coming more.
Ingo

I had a Juno-D and it was cool, knobing on cutoff and resonance, playing in patch mode, you should modify c-off and resonance on 1st,2nd or both layer.
Actually, on JS I play in performance mode with mutiple layer at the same time, and I can't assign cutoff (and resonance) knob more then one part. If you try to knob on cutoff you have effect only on the selected part, not the other, that's weird.
USB player, mp3 inside sub-directories are ignored, that's weird.
Some patch seems bad programmed, with wrong velocity effect while playing on some specific key

Yes, I agree with you!
1 month ago I sold my Juno-D after 3 years of honored activity and it was still perfect!
Very useful the possibility to modify c-off and resonance on 1st, 2nd or both layer.
So, Juno-D was a great entry-level definitely!
I posted the problem of velocity key for Juno S... I think that several patches have been programmed in bad way.
I hope Roland will provide very soon to give us an upgrade to fix the bugs that we posted and to make us re-considering positively the technical support.

SWITCHING BETWEEN FAVORITES WITHOUT DROPOUT
or
SWITCHING BETWEEN PERFORMACE PARTS WITH NUMERIC BUTONS AND PEDAL
I bought JS for stage playing. I am still learning that instrument, but for now, I see that it is practically ussles for stage playing.
If only it would be possible to assign different configurations of one performance to favorite banks it would be great.
cheers

I completely agree with Geron. Its too hard to play on stage!

Welll.... after couple of nights with JS i have one, extremely important "reason for update". There should be something like .... Favorite Part Combinations (someone mentioned this on this forum). Once performance is selected, favorite buttons could change kbd switch combiations. I think it would solve plenty problems with control and then i could tell that it`s STAGE instrument.
Ohh... and metronom... it my be played only with song... I don`t playback songs and would like to synchronize arpeggiator, some efects with drumer. For now i think the only way is to playback empty song but I`am still working on this. Mayby i miss sth.
It would be nice to start metronom without any song played.

Hello everyone,
I own the Juno Stage for a few weeks now and yesterday was the first gig I used it at. I use it as my main keyboard and I have an XP-30 on top of it. I must say I love the sounds, I'm not so convinced by the keybed, but it's satisfying except for a few keys being too loud, but I'm working out how to have that fixed.
Here are some propositions for a software/firmware update which would make the Juno Stage easier to use for me:
- Fix the problem with pitch-bender being at +63 at start-up (really dangerous when you play a C chord but you hear a D!).
- (Also mentioned elsewhere) Fix the problem with velocity sense setting in main menu not being applied at startup.
- (Also mentioned elsewhere) Make the control buttons (Cuttoff/resonance, etc.) fully assignable to any CC-number like in Midi-controller mode.
- (Also mentioned above) Make it easier to set keyboard switches for every part in performance-mode with the numeric buttons, just like on the XP-30 (except you don't have the port 1-8/9-16 switch). I now use S1 and S2 for this, but that is rather limited.
- Make a function in the main menu to set PRO EDIT to the default patch editing mode (I hate having to press an extra button every time I want to edit patch parameters).
- Display the currently selected favorite bank number in the display when in favorite-mode. Lower line is empty when in favorite mode so there's enough space to show something like: "Favorite Bank: 0"
- Shorten the power-up time. When I have a USB-stick inserted with MP3-files (about 50), the time it says "LOADING..." is rather long (about 20 seconds). I would like it if this could go a bit faster, without removing MP3's from the USB memory ;-D
Does anyone of you know if Roland reads these messages or is there another way to get this through to them?

Martijn, completely agree with you on the following suggestion:
"Make it easier to set keyboard switches for every part in performance-mode with the numeric buttons."
This seems like a no-brainer. What was Roland thinking, making this part of the interface so user-unfriendly? If I have 16 parts available, I should be able to switch in and out of them easily, especially when playing live. The way it is now, unless I know the interface like the back of my hand (and I'm still not convinced that will give me everything I need), I can't do this quickly or easily.
Here's one example - if I select the keyboard switch option (KBD SW), and select All Off for all the parts, I still get sound playing which I think may be the last patch I selected even though I'm not using it now. If I have for 3 parts assigned to channels 1, 2 and 3 respectively, turn off 1 and 2, I get that sound as well as whatever this other sound is. There may be a better way to work through these options but I haven't found it yet.
