16GB FLASH DRIVE ROLAND FANTOM X
There is a company on Ebay selling 16GB flash drive that he states is compatible with the Fantom X series. I called Roland and they say the Fantom will only read to a capacity of 1GB. And I should only use 512 DIMM Ram not 1GB this guy is also offering. Anybody ever bought and used something like this? Of course I just bought my Roland so I need some guidance. Ebay Item number: 220343571795. Holla back
Re: 16GB FLASH DRIVE ROLAND FANTOM X
Sounds like you found somone who is a little short on knowledge or is dishing up a good helping of snake oil with his products heh.
Only the Fantom G can use Flash Drives. Fantom X requires a type II pc card interface adapter. Depending on the adpater used you get either Compact Flash (CF)Cards or Secure Digital (SD)cards capacity of up to 1 gig. Some folks use 2 gig with no problems but you will only be able to access 1 gig at a time.
As for sample memory, Fantom X can officialy support up to 512mb pc266 sdram . If you dig back in the posts on this board we have made mention of a company that manufactures a 1 gig stick of pc266 sdram that works in the X unofficaly. The only oddity is that the onboard memory counter reads zero or something funky like that.
As a side note the 1 gig of ram sounds nice and if you really need that much then go for it. However, it is both expensive and if you manage to fill all that space with samples loaded at startup, you will be able to cook a small meal while you wait for your board to boot up!! lol.

Re: 16GB FLASH DRIVE ROLAND FANTOM X
I have bought from him many times and everything has worked fine. He included the adaptor with one of the 2 gig cards he sold me. The synth sees the full two gigs, but I'm not sure if you can access more then 1 gig? It would take me quite a while to use up that much space with songs. I also bought ram from him and it worked fine, 512.
All I can tell you is if he says it'll work, it should, but not bought a flash drive from him. Search his name for x6 memory and you should find those type 2 cards and the adaptor with it or ask him to sell you one. So far I bought memory for my X6 and BR-600, everything works perfect from him.

Re: 16GB FLASH DRIVE ROLAND FANTOM X
Just to clairify, Im not trying to totaly dis the ebay seller. Im sure he means well and Im sure most of what he sells works just fine. I do however think he needs to learn the difference between the G and the X before saying a 16 gig flash drive willl work in the Fantom X.
As for me I use the SD card adapter made by Panasonic. It works extremely well and I know that SD cards are available world wide in lots of different stores so if I ever have a crisis I can easily find one.... not to mention most cameras and video recorders have them now also.

Re: 16GB FLASH DRIVE ROLAND FANTOM X
UPDATE: you said you did not get the adaptor? I just checked your sale and written in Bold is: Unlike other sellers, we include the correct adapter for your Roland!
But then below it says: Installation instructions are included; the surgery takes about 5 minutes. The flash drive just pops in but you have to have the correct adapter.
He made a mistake and I would call him on it as mine came with the adaptor, but I already had his Ram, I think he made a mistake copy/paste in his ads....
Below is what I typed before I made the edit!
Well, he INCLUDES the adaptor in this 2 gig flash, which I bought from him as well as many flash cards, never not worked. You can ask him as in my prior post, can he sell it without buying the card? What's it matter if you already bought the memory anyway, free adaptor
Item number: 270357391909
Expires June 10th, but he lists these by the million, just search on Ebay X6 Memory and you'll always find "fourniersean".
I am in no certain way or regards, know this person or am I trying to sell his wares. I am just saying I have bought memory from him for many years and many different equipment and none has ever failed to work or ever failed.
I said that disclaimer in case Arti sees this post and up to him if I am "advertising",
and I am NOT! Just telling the good people of Fantom owners who they can trust for cards or memory. Bought from others and they failed. His 2 gig works fine in my X6 even though Roland says it won't work!

You are right.
Buminbeer2... You are right the Ebayer I mentioned is great. I got the item:512mb ram, free PC card adapter, and 1Gig CF Memory for only 49.00. I was simply asking about the 16G Flash memory that he stated would work on my Fantom X6. Just like others say he might have had good intentions however, the Fantom will not read that much memory. Especially, beyond the 2Gig that you have. Thank goodness for Roland Clan Forums.
