I think the reason for not making a Rack version is cus sound in the G is the same so for that they already have the XR. they wouldn't put a sequencer on a rack, and that's the only place the upgrade exists...

Re: AUDIO SOUNDS FANTOM G PATCHES ON LINE AT ROLAND US NOW!!
The new demos of the are very good.
I partly agree to Quinnx ...
I'm still very pleased with the sonic capabilities of the X. The songs of the project I made with soft synths, a good 24/96 soundcard and a 24-bit resolution are not so clear as the one I made with the X and a 16-bit resolution.
For a good sound there is much more than bit counting...
Imo the plus of the G are the patch remain, MIDI phrases and the mouse-driven sequencer with a much better support for people like me doing things patternwise.

Thanks Danielo for the news. I've read some comments in the meantime, now it's time to hear.

Septimo, no one said there won't be a rack version. Normally, no developer releases rack module at the same time as keyboard version, it usually comes in following couple of years.

"... but it seems like more and more this board is not for someone who's happy with their expanded Fantom X ... or has nothing else in their studio that they want to spend money on ... (I can think of several things I need before the Fantom G ... )"
I Pretty much agree 100% with Diametro here. I love the Fantom X, and I'm sure I'd love the Fantom G if I didn't already own an X with expansion cards but sadly the G simply doesnt offer enough for me to make the upgrade worthwhile (I know there are some great improvements but they don't really effect what I can do on my X plus the multi-sampling issue...). I'll play the G when possible before making the final decision but the likelyhood of me getting it seems increasingly slight, I'll probably end up spending the money on software instead.

your statement is very similar to other forums boards about moving from the motif es to>> xs and the korg forums about moving from the triton extreme > to the m3.....
I dont really see these companies doing and leaps and bounds here... eventhough they all claim new synth engines....I kinda wish one company would just make me wow!!!!! and want to fork over my moneys...

Ensoniq KS-32 and the G8
Okay now that you have stopped laughing. Ya it's been a while since I've upgraded. I guess my sonic palete is a little under developed. Intersting debate a great thread. From a Roland Newbie perspective I can't wait to get my G8!
So am I wrong?
