Re: V Synth Sounds
Well, not exactly true. I think those patches are based 99% on the PPG samples, VariPhrased. And VariPhrase is actually something that brings the static samples closer to on-the-fly generation, this technology analyzes the samples and virtually turns them into continuous waveforms. That is why the traditional zeroes and ones associated with all samplers do not apply to the V-Synth, that is why we love it so much

Yes the PPG bank is 99% sampled, with only a little help from the awesome supersaw, which is pretty PPGish, I have created the bank with the intention of recreating the the charm of the PPG, The sounds were created from actual samples of my favorite sounds, and things I used will I was using this instrument. Artemio is right, in that the way the V Synth works, helps make the sound behave like the original. I actually discovered this by accident trying to recreate an old track, I sampled the wave and built the sound, and to my amazment, it was pretty close, very hard to tell it wasn't a PPG. I also have a massive waveterm library, which will probably be on a future release, depending on interest. I had many joyous years with my PPG system, but things move on and become more reliable, it was a nightmare keeping it running!! Pier, check out Artemio's kit, absolute bargin, sounds awesome. I will start the drum sounds at the weekend, any other requests in the drum machine line?

Pier:
Gerald is talking about V-Lectric.
Gerald:
Glad to hear you're creating more sounds, re-tweaked vintage libraries are always cool stuff. We'll soon have a "Commercial" section at Roland Clan, so you'll be able to mail me the details about your libraries and I'll put them on the site.

"How many patches are included in the banks? How many waves? Whats the size of the prj file?
Thanks "
Thanks "
V Synth Sounds
87 patches, as in performance bank of PPG 2.3 constructed from 34 selected wav files, which are the basic building blocks for the presets. Endless possibilites to create your own PPGesque sounds. The 87 patches are my recreation of sounds I used most on the PPG, and can be used as a starting point for your own creations.

Re: V Synth Sounds
Hi Gerald - former PPG owner and current Microwave-1 hoarder here. I myself had a go at trying to represent these unique machines and their special sound on the V-Synth (seemed like a wonderful way of extending the Wave sound into another dimension), but had a very hard time in getting the sound to be "right" across the whole keyrange and my samples just didn't have that "bite" of the real machines. I did manage to get some of the more famous wavetable scans from #2, #13, #17 and #27 nearly right, but would love a more professionally recorded set of my own.
Is there any way I can preview your soundset before purchase? I've tried the links, but the player format isn't supported by Mac OSX.
Cheers!

Re: V Synth Sounds
BTW - which OS version are you using on your 2.3 and are your wavetables complete (#13, especially)?
