Yes, and the directional keys are by far not as handy for moving through songs as a horizontal slider would be..

Well, I disagree there. The directional keys "search" for the next phrase which is handy and fast most of the time. Horizontally they jump from phrase to phrase as they vertically jump from track to track.

I think the horizontal slider is redundant (unless it's linked to the locator). We have the locator and markers to move to anyware in the song.

If you would use the horizontal slider, what would it be good for? There are no operations you can perfrom from that screen in the middle of a phrase and if you "slid" to the middle of the song, I guess the screen would jump back to the location of the locator as soon as you press play.

But that's just personal.

So, if the horizontal slider would operate the locator, then I'm all for it! :)

Are we talking of different keys?
I meant the Fast Forward/Backward keys and their functions.

Which keys do you refer to?

Else the slider is the fastest way to get to a song position later in the song, and there you can just click a part with "song edit" to be sure play begins from there.

Hey Jim, have you (or anybody else) been able to confirm the Tempo issue I mentioned previously?

Confirmed:

Tempo saving works song related, not patch/set related.

This one is not so much a bug as it is more of a wish list item. In the system menu there is an option for startup mode such as live mode, single, etc. There should an additional option the allows you to startup on the last used single or live set etc. For Example If I am using Live set 101 and I lose power when I turn it back on I want to still be on Live Set 101 not Live Set 1 and then have to go back and find my Live Set again.

I'm talking the directional keys around the alpha dial, as they also share it's function with scrollbars.

Just a moment, the buttons right and left of the Alpha dial don't move you through a song?

Still a working scroll bar would be fine for me.

Yes they do. But they jump from phrase to the next phrase in a track. Their function is called search (i guess search for next phrase start). They don't relate to the song position as I would expect the horizontal scrollbar to do.

So to me it would be strange that the vertical buttons on the alpha dial relate to a scrollbar and the horizontal wouldn't.

It's hard to marry it all to something logical.

Right
Yes they do. But they jump from phrase to the next phrase in a track.
Also right but this happens only in SONG EDIT. So Jim is still right : horizontal scrolling bar and arrows should work - they are sitting over there for something, right? ;-)

synthetica :

There is a simple solution to that.
if you want your current set to be the one you access on boot up.
just WRITE to set location 1 before you power down..

Sorted! ;-)

Sequencer Bug/Problem

Post by firstlovedan »

Hey Guys,
I am a new member to this forum. I own a Yamaha XS and just received my G7. Has anyone had a problem with the sounds changing in the studio/sequence mode after switching to live mode? My problem is..During a live performance I switch from studio to othrt modes. When I return to my sequnce, my sounds are changed. The only work around is reloading the song. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Guys, please, that's not a bug. That's a perfectly normal behaviour. If you switch modes you switch sounds. So you can't expect the Fantom to retain where you were before unless you write the Setting or the Song. If you want to change the sound in a Part use the PATCH LIST within the Studio/Live Mode.

Sequencer Bug/Problem

Post by Firstlovedan_ »

Thanks for the response. When I perform, I may play a couple of songs with a live or single setting, and then use a sequenced song. So I am constantly going back and forth. Maybe I can asign patches with the pads and stay in studio mode, or maybe use program and cc changes at the beginning of each song. I also encountered another problem last night. When I was sequencing, the sequencer kept recording 2 tracks at the same time. It could be that I am doing something wrong.
Blessings,
