DBijoux,

That's a good point ... But does the price on RAM really drop, especially as it gets older and harder to find ... ??? I really don't know the answer to this ...

Does the Fantom G use the same RAM as Fan-X ... ??? How hard is it to find the Fan-X memory upgrade ... I bought mine minutes after getting my X ...

My point is that if people aren't using Fantoms to their full extent, they won't be as happy with the experience. That results in less usage or frustrations whether they are justified or not ...

Maybe Roland should think about upgrading the user RAM to something more usable ... ??? Or also allow the use of some compressed format (even proprietary if there's a conversion tool) to get more out of it ...

In general, the price definitey drops. I don't know if Moore's law applies exactly, but it's similar situation to CPU's. There are some exceptions, RDRAM anyone? That stuff really was different, ahead of it's time(clockspeed), and never caught on for some reason(probably too expensive).

Fantom-X memory is $28 for 512Mb @ popular source here - I bought mine for about $12 from another RAM supplier.

Exactly, the same here - jump to the back, check the specs, check the micro-manual to make sure it's the right chip, order, done.

I'm not sure how Roland could improve the customer experience on this, they can't hold everyone's hand with everything, and they do specifically say in the manual the included memory is possibly insufficient.

There's also the question, how much RAM do you actually need? Obviously, @ $12 it's not a big decision to max, but 1gb for the G is $99.
