hi-tech:

i see you have planet v, how do you use it in conjuction with you own personal samples, being that it has it's own sample bank, how do you use that and keep whatever samples you had before you got planet v?

the ONLY thing stopping me from purchasing planet v is the fact that i would have to reimport and remake all my custom kits because of the way plante v has it's own sample bank

i have around 80 mb of personall samples that i use for custom kits and such, it would be a pain to have to reimport and remake those each time planet v gets an update

to Artemio:

i really appreciate all the work you do, i'm just trying to find a way to work around having to remake all my kits, planet v sounds very nice and this is the only reason i haven't purchased it yet

Well I dont have nearly as big sample base as you, I probably have less then 15MB currently. So since none of my current songs will use Planet V, I just moved those samples to its own folder in roland/smpl, created a new folder called Planet V in roland/smpl and placed all those samples in there.

I try to make it a habit not to use the same sounds over and over so this sort of forces me to use different sounds for different songs. Basically when I do create a custom sample in a song that uses Planet V patches it will get saved along with Planet V's samples in Planet V's folder. (I arleady started at the 1200 slot, he recommends slot 1000 but I gave a little headroom) This works since I have to load Planet V to play the song anyway.

When Im not using Planet V or any of its samples, I move those samples back to its folder and either bring back my custom samples or create new folder. Right now I'm just use my custom samples folder and Planet V.

This way Im not stuck with waiting for the X to load lots of samples everytime, only when I want to wait.

You have custom kits, so this may not fully work for you. I guess resampling will become best your friend. I use the PC for any custom drum kits/samples etc. I have Battery 2.

* Caution *

- The XV Patches will *over-write* the User Patches. Before
loading, if there are important user data, please back-up
your data.

- Since the Waveform's contents are different between the
Fantom-X and the XV Series, previous XV Patches will
not sound completely the same on the Fantom-X.

I would like to use the 5080 patches as well, but i am kind of scared because of this. This doesnt mean it overwrites my stock presets does it?

you're stock user patches are all on the Fantom so you can happily overwrite them.

I store all mine on one card in different folders and move the fans.svd file using file utility.

they are great stock standard patches.

Your stock fantom sounds are in their banks A, B, C,D, E,F,G,H,I

You can also access them by their patch category Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano, etc...........

Your user patches are a selection of those copied into user memory.

I went through the 1000xv patches and selected the best 256 for my use and have loaded them into user memory so that I always have access to those sounds.

I have all 1000 patches plus my own plus others in various folders on a 512 card and use the file utility to move the fans.svd file around. It is quite easy once you get the hang of it. The folders need to be set up on a PC.

HOpe that helps. A few helped me along the way and I am very thankful for this forum.
