Juno WAV dumps, whats with roland man?

Post by tablist56 »

arghhh i cant believe it guys...i could almost throw my juno against the wall!!!!!!!!!!!

as some of you may know im in the process of ripping 300 pieces of vynil. i done about 50. took me bout 1 wk.

i connected my turntable to my juno, recorded the vynil through the audio recorder, normalised, eq'd, set start/end pts then saved the wav. i listened to each file i saved in the juno and it sounded great.

now the big issue...

when i went to dump all my wavs to my computer they dont play!!!

if i try and play the wav file from the laptop, all i get is a BZZZZZZZZZ sound. it sounds kinda like when you open up a wav in an audio editor and play a tiny piece of the wav in a loop. just sounds like noise.

whats going on? isnt it supposed to play like a normal wav file?
it did play for a short while, (some files), but when i fast forward the track in media player thats when the crazy noise starts.

does anyone know what could possibly be doing this?
i always thought juno recorded wavs which you could just dump and play from your pc or burn to cd. am i missing something here guys?

im really devestated at the moment as i have spent countless nights ripping my vynil only to find that the juno wavs dont even work.

can anyone help please? really desperate for some guidance...

thanks

This is very strange, I never ever heard about such an issue. I play the WAV files made with the G on my computer and all apps open them fine. They are standard files after all. Can you try an editor like Audacity?

Tablist56,

Just test recorded from minidisk, dat and radio.
Saved and named samples in Juno.
Connected via USB transferred files to computer.
Tested in Windows media player,Wavelab and Realplayer.
They play no problem.
I dont think a turntable should be any different.
Didnt do any processing. Will try that for you soon.

Cheers Bazz

tablist56, did you try to play the files on another pc? (with another audio card)
Could you put the files somewhere where we can download them and try?

Yes, good idea, you can attach a file right here if it's less than 500 KB.

ahh yes why didnt i think of that!!!

ill rip a few bars from one of my vynils and post it up for someone to analyse.

hey art, do you think the normalising, setting start/end pts, might have anything to do with it?

don't panic. if they work on the Juno G then you can always record them back into a computer using the free program that ARt mentioned called Audacity AT WORST.

I've never had any trouble taking a WAV out of the fantom and playing on a computer. NEVER!

normalising will not effect the wav file.
I'm not sure about start and end points as I never do it.

posting a wav file might help

Again don't panic. Your work is not in vain. As long as it works on the Juno G you will get it off.

As a school teacher, computer teacher and school network administrator can I offer my advice for the future.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE WORKFLOW
Always try out one before going into mass production.
If it is not working there must be an error somewhere in the process.

This will take more time at the beginning but save heaps of time in the end.

hope this helps
