update...

Update!

I just went to the guitar center again, and tested with a pedal on their floor model: same problem!

Hi!

At least the bug seems to affect units worldwide... this way, I hope Roland will have to solve it faster :-P

I have written to Roland Spain about this bug, and I'll tell you something when they write me back. Anyway, I invite all the people with the problem to contact Roland. This way they will be aware of it, and solve it sooner.

Best regards,
Urtzi.

Sustain Juno G problem

Post by marclemn »

He guys!

I live in the US and bought my Juno from Musicians friends and the same problem happens when using the pedal. I always used Korg keyboards and never had this problem. This is the first time I switched to Roland.

Cmmon Roland let's fix this problem!

Ahah... but don't worry... Roland usually makes excellent instruments, and when they'll fix this problem I'm sure we will all enjoy our Junos.
But DO contact Roland US, so they will contact Roland Japan too! If they understand that for many users this is an important bug, maybe they will fix it quickly.

UPDATE: the Service Centre called me, agreed that it is probably a software problem, and asked me to write again to Roland Italy with a detailed description of the problem, so that they can send the bug report to Roland Japan.

I have tried to confirm this, but am not having much sucess. Maybe we should check software version's of our G's. I have V1.05, but have also expanded the RAM to 256M, and am using a reversed hold pedal (as if that should make any difference)

Yes, I have the same version (1.05)... the amount of RAM I don't think should make any difference. I tried both with a normal and reverse pedal, but it did not solve the problem.
So, if you're sure you can't recreate the problem, we have to go back to the "hardware issue on a batch" hypothesis...

Latest version doesnt make a difference

Post by starship »

I have latest OS. RAM should never make any difference since the sounds are in ROM.

Roland has to come up with an update quick to solve this problem!

Artemio, how about your Juno-G?

Hi!

Mine is also version 1.05 and has installed 512M of RAM. Anyway, I remember that the bug might have happened to me before I installed the memory (then I didn't pay attention to it, and from there I have been using the Juno mainly as a sound module, controlled via midi).

By the moment no response from Roland Iberia. I'll let you know anything when they write me back.

Best regards,

i got a juno g from GF about 1 mth ago...i play the keys whilst using the pedal and i dont get any silent notes...im not using a ram card in there atm. just factory settings with a few favourite patches.
no pc card either.

ive been playing the juno everyday for about 2hrs and i havent experienced this issue.

maybe it hasnt just struck me yet, maybe i got one from a good batch? i dunno...

but i VERY much doubt this would be affecting every juno...roland would of have beta testers play the hell out of these things and abuse them to see what happens when they are under pressure. any bugs would of surfaced then.

maybe im lucky...is there anyone in my situation?

Sustain bug

Post by md-music »

I've got the same problem with sustain and cut-off-notes
- it's not a sample-ram problem.

Are Roland awair of the problem ?

UPDATE: I talked to Roland Italy today, to check if they had some news.
They were very kind. The lady talked to the technical staff and called me back in an hour.
What they told me is that they made a test and were able to reproduce the problem. So they wrote to Roland Japan. They also said that they knew that it is a "global" problem. So we know at least that Roland is aware of the bug.
Anyway, they also told me they were still waiting for news from Roland Japan. They still don't know if, how and when they will be able to solve the problem.
But at least we know that Roland is aware of the problem, and this is good.
