v-synth and intel mac usb driver problem

Post by trancekid »

I was trying to create a aggregated device on the mac pro with the motu pci system and the v-synth and it doesn't work. it worked well on a g5.
on the mac pro I installed the v-synth usb driver which is universal binary.
the v-synth is recogniced but no sound is going through it via usb.
I can choose the driver in logic pro 7.2.3 but then logic doesn't do any audio until I change the driver to anything else.

midi over usb works but no audio.

does anybody know about problems with the usb-driver for intel macs ?

or did anybody get the v-synth running as audio device on a intel mac ?

thanks

When I had an XT for testing, it worked well on my Intel Mac, both audio and MIDI. I did not try creating an aggregate device though, so you may check if it works without an aggregate device set up first (if you haven't already). Also make sure the sample rates and bit depths are set correctly at both sides.

no chance to get it running. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times but if I choose it as the main osx audio driver even itunes wont play.
if I choose built in audio or the motu it plays songs as usual but with the v-synth driver itunes (or any other audio application) opens up but wont play.

that all on a mac pro 3.0 ghz with os 10.4.8

could anybody with a intel mac and 10.4.8 test it please ?

I can give it a try... I've got an XT and a mac pro 4x2.66 running 10.4.8 with a motu 828mk2....

A few things worth pointing out though... you want your clock source to be the motu and not the v-synth, IIRC. Also, when you turn on and off the XT, it will effectively change the audio driver that is loaded as he XT becomes available and unavailable. I get around this system hiccup by running out of the v-synth xt into my mac pro TOSlink optical input, and instead have the aggregate device consisting of the motu + mac pro. The XT is still hooked up via USB but everything runs much smoother like this.

found out that it's got something to do with the driver for the virus ti. after deinstalling it the driver of the v-synth worked fine.
reinstalling the ti-driver brought me back to the v-synth driver not working again.
semms like using them in parallel via usb on the mac pro doesn't work.

that worked fine on the g5 by the way.

Looks like time for a bug report to Access and Roland if the Virus TI driver is the problem.
