Is anybody else this stupid?

Post by Diametro »

I had a huge Fantom X epiphany last night.

You know what I'm talking about. When a feature on the Fantom finally performs more or less like you imagined it would when you bought it.

Almost a year later, I'm finally starting to like the arpeggios. (Which are a big deal to me; call me a student of the Moroder school of composition.)

And why are the arpeggios more interesting now?

CHORD MEMORY. If you're not using this with your arpeggios, you're really missing out.

For some reason I just never used it -- or used with the arpeggiator.

But if you SHIFT+CHORD MEMORY and dial through the chord forms, and have the arpeggiator on, you'll see the arpeggios are much more interesting and musical. (Def. cycle past the startup C maj chord 'cause its just not worth noting -- shit, I can do that! go to something more complicated.)

The capper is using the pads to change the chord forms and you have a very musical live performance tool.

Of course, I wouldn't use this on every song, as I like to vary my performance techniques from song to song, but it definately has its place.

So am I the only one to have been ignorant of this?

You don't have a ruler long enough to measure my ignorance. :)

I haven't owned the beast long enough yet. I know I've maybe touched about 1/100th of what this thing can do.

DUDE!!!

Yes I was most definatley as supid as you... I couldn't figure out why my $200 MC-303 had more interesting arpeggio patterns than my $1700 Fantom-Xa... also coming from the 'moroder school of composition' as you put it, that was kind of a big deal to me - and so is your little tip! Thanks dude!

Pearls of wisdom, no mistake, but I bought a Fantom-Xa anyways ;)

There is one thing that is definately more interesting and creative than using chord memory with arps. Arping chords realtime using the keyboard.

Really?

You're a musical genius!

But can you play 15-note arps perfectly at 170 bpm while playing a contrasting melody with another hand?

Ummm ... I'd like to see that.

That was a brilliant post, asswipe.

Ok Diametro or whoever the hell you are. You must be a real assclown or something to make such an ignorant post.
15 note arps at 170bpm? HaHa!! Never heard anything like that worth listening to.
If you don't know how to play, then of course use chord memory.
Fu** you and your asswipe comment. Dumbass!!

Let me rephrase that. . .

Since it appears that the 'Lock' function has been temporarily disabled while Artemio integrates the forums, I will simply delete any further posts of a similar nature.

sorry ... I agree. I could have made my point without cussing and making a personal remark.

Again, I apologize. I value my participation with this site too much to jeopardize it.

Diametro,

Apology accepted. Admittedly, I was a little surpised by the comment, but we all have our moments. Thus the reminder. . . .

You're still quite welcome here and thanks for the apology.

Other than popping hydrogen bubbles with a lit match,or taking down a hornets nest with a weed whacker,I generally have a passable, room temperature IQ.
