KILLER NEWS: Finally I've got ADSL here!

Dear Fantomized friends,

I am happy to tell you that I finally changed my crappy old dialup connection to a broadband ADSL. This should mean a lot not only to me but to everybody here because it's obvious that I'll be able to provide more multimedia content at the sites.

For those who are interested, I have a D-Link Ethernet card which was auto-configured by my Linux box (didn't touch a thing!) and D-Link DSL-500T modem (which runs Linux inside too, hehe ) which was 1 minute to set up. I have a 576 kbps downstream / 320 kbps upstream connection which is not THAT fast but still there are not so many web sites which will let you fully experience a 2 Mbit connection (which I will be upgrading to soon anyway).

576k not that fast? I've only got 256k down here in Australia, mind you we did only just get electricity a couple of years back! ...We've been told to expect t.v. any day now!

One of the advantages of living in the US is broadband is available just about everywhere for fairly decent prices.

Actually I do not see a reason to get a really high-speed connection, simply because there are not that many web sites which will be able to server you their content this fast. However, of course you do not lose by getting a very fast connection now, because in a few years sites will have 100 Gbit and Terabit speeds to serve us.
