how to edit a rythm kit as a whole, not as a note???

Post by sambasevam »

i'm trying to get the Filter Kit from the Triton Le. in rythm edit mode, each invidual key has its own parameters. while this may be an advantage to me in effects (individual reverb sends) in editing, i want the entire kit to change. im just trying to get a simple Filter curve, like, the filter should drop down with time.....thats all....

looks like i have to do the envelope settings for each and every note!!! no way!!! help !!!

if you want to control them at once.
you will need to set for all parts reverb higher than 0
same for chorus.

you will then be able to use the master rev and chor to add or change for the entire patch.

Same for envelopes

each part has its own envelope, but once set
the graduation for the entire kit is controled by the
REAL TIME CONTROLS

And the same goes for Filters

If your setting up new controls for new parts and you dont want to keep changing every paramiter.
set the first tone to max settings then use copy tone/ to copy to next key then the only change to make will be the Tone for that key.

Of course now that you have gone through all that trouble, you will probably be wise to save it also as a templete patch, so next time you want to do the same thing again..
you will only have to copy the empty patch and add your own tones.. ;)

Quinnx,
thanks for the reply. i dont understand it though. i know how to set the effects sends for the kit as a whole, but envelopes? i dont want to control via realtime. i want to edit with the value dial.

so, why would increasing rev. to >0 do that? im a bit puzzled....

can u explain this in detail please?

Thnkx.

sam, you cannot edit all keys at the same time. Only global part effects sends can be adjusted this way.

WHATT!!!!

art, please, anything but that!! there SHOULD be a way. so, i should spend the rest of my life trying to adjust EACH AND EVERY FREAKIN parameter for each and every key for a rhythm kit? this is outrageous!!!! this is the first time im really pissed with the Fantom S!

i know individual effects sends can be adjusted but that's an advantage to me. why the hell wont they give a grouping so that everything in that group will follow the same parameter values...???!!!??

we ought to tell Roland about this. after all, what;s the use of all this synth power if you cant apply it to the rhytm you want to play??

art, aren't you outraged? im suprised no one has bought this issue up! this ought to be fixed with an OS update!!

Well, only now I think that this might be a great feature. But no, I never needed it really. All of my sounds usually have different settings. And it's not a problem for me to rund through 20-30 keys and roll the dial appropriately.

I dont have an S but assuming there similar to the X
your REAL TIME CONTROLS should allow you to do this globaly.

Im not sure if you can save these settings done with real time.
but it can be done that way.

and i think??
if you max the real time controls it sets all parts paramiters to max
so you can now work your way back..

if you real need to keep these settings, you could probably save it as a song or performance.

this is all theory im not at my keyboard at the momment. ;)

Hi, Sambasevam. I see the issue you're having, and I think that, like Art said, it would be a welcome feature, but I don't think many people here consider it essential.

Good luck finding a way to make it work. Share it with us if you figure it out.

Hi Sambasevam,

Exactly what kind of settings do you feel to be usefull to set in a group?
I ask you this because I also don't understand your surprise. Ok, the Fantom could have a Group Editing feature but do you feel that hard to just hit the key or pad and edit the parameter for each sound. In the end you certantly do not use all 128 sounds on the rhythm set but just maybe a dozen or 2. Oh, and QuinnX is right : You can use the knobs to tweak all the rhythm set at the same time.

You say : "what;s the use of all this synth power if you cant apply it to the rhytm you want to play?? " but its just that power that permits you to edit every rhythm sound individualy.

I hope you find your way through this ;-)

If all you want to do is add filter modulation to the drum kit as a whole, why don't you try running it through the Super Filter MFX?

Attack, Release, Decay, Cutoff and Resonance offsets are stored per whole part (patch or rhythm set). So yes, what Quinnx suggested will work for these patameters.
