Sample loop preview hold in sample edit ???

Post by Blazin »

Having to hold the preview button down while sample loop editing to keep it looping is a real pain ... in the finger !!! Sound Forge has spoiled me. I hope I'm missing something.
Anyone ???

I hope we are both missing something because I think having to hold the preview button down to listen to a sample is a real pain as well. And yes I know I can assign it to a key or a pad but, I sometimes want to listen before I bother assigning to anything.

I would think that after a while the button would wear more than the others ... due to the constant pressure on it when in use. Lets hope we're just missing something simple. I already tried shift-preview (F8). Which would be the logical application. It definately needs to be added to the upgrade wishlist. By the way there is nothing in the book on the subject.

After you have made your adjustments ??? Isn't that missing the point. If your samples loops are short ... no problem. But if your loops are longer ... its a real hassle to keep your finger holding down the preview button. It also ties up a hand ... so you only have one to edit with. Even the cheapest sample editor will allow editing while the sample loops ... making it faster and easier to find and assign start/end and loop points. Why couldn't the hold button hold the preview button down in the sample edit mode to enable preview hold ???

... But you can "HOLD" the pad after assigning the sample to it. The problem is that, while editing, the Fantom doesn't refresh the preview. That means that every time you change a value, for ex. the start point, you have to release and then hit again the preview button (or pad) to hear the differences.

I use very long samples i dont have that problem. if you have a long sample go to the part that you want to fix up and set it to that and loop it.
