Hey guys,
I'm planning to buy a X7 very soon, but reading some threads I'm a bit worried about motherboard problems.
Is it a widespread default ? And has Roland already updated fantoms that are for sale now ?

Mod, the problem has affected early fantom X,
right now there should be a small chanche in
buying a bugged X.
Anyway, you should ask to the shop to try
the machine before you buy it, making them aware about
this issue.
Besides, i got a bugged MoBo (not knowing about the issue
before readin it here), but after the replacement
everything with my X6 is just perfect.

Re: Planning to buy a X7, but...
Thanks, Magus. I will ask the shop.

Always check it at the shop. I shouldn't be too worried, most of todays synths have issues because they simply are complex in terms of hardware and software.
For example, the Yamaha Motif Rack still has some hardware issues they have never fixed. My Triton pitch bender broke twice due to a bad design / construction, but Korg hasn't changed the design yet.
Btw, my X7 is OK, recently bougth it in Europe.
Best regards,
