I didn't believe this day will come!!!
Ok, for impression! :
First, I was like "WOW this is SO d*mn heavy!!"
Then I was "HOLLY....Its beautiful!!!!"
Then... "it doesnt have the awesome sides of the X7\6 ! too bad"
And then the real impression started:)
At first, I didnt have an amp, lol. My stereo realy couldnt handle it.
But then I asked my friend to get me his guitar amp for a while.
I was a bit upset to hear not-so-awesome-as-I-thought-sounds, but then I understood that I have a small amateur guitar amp that the Fantom is plug into it through the phones output to the *CD input* of the amp. Not the regular one...(It must have a bit of distortion in order to make a sound...Its not so good hehe).
Anyway, all of this doesnt matter as I scrolled over the patches and found AWESOME ones, many actually! It has so many that you need to do a real search in order to find what you love.
Compared to my piano the piano isnt overwhelming, but then again, its a st*pid amp and phones output!
But it was still GREAT! Realy!
Was a bit hard to find nice clean and good square and saw.
Well I can talk much more about the sounds...But we all don't have time for this, and I still don't have a good gear to hear it at its best:)
Moving to the use. After scrolling the patches, I thought maybe I will try to split the keyboard just for fun. Wanted it to sound like a specific part in Biaxident, Liquid Tension Experiment.
Thinking "omg I don't have ANY chance" I started to click on the buttons saying "sh*t what did I do" and stuff.
But suddenly, I made it!! It was so easy that I almost cried! Did it all, balance between the sounds, the exact sounds I wanted, the specific split and the octaves location for each sound, what not!
I didnt even think I can tweak it SO deeply!! I was shoked, as were my friends.
Wow, then came the D-Beam. Guys, THIS IS REALY AWESOME!
My brother almost killed me in order to click on that "solo synth" button and play with the D-Beam..Wow this is a nice feature..
I can talk all day:) Was absolutly shocked as I saw how I can affect the sound on the pads with the velocity of my own hands..
Then, for the most important part. The keyboard. 88 keys, weighted, aiming to be the best there is out there. I must say it is realy nice. Weighted enough, a *bit* light but heavier than my piano and thats great.
But (here comes the but...), although I can play it all day, its not as perfect as I thought. The problem: the keys go back up too slowly, making it difficult to play fast things on one key and some cool things I wanted to improve from my too old piano.
But they don't jump when they get there. This is realy realy nice. Most keys rotate up and down a bit, like they are connected to a spring.
So, 3 hours after I enjoyed it, I MUST go to sleep...
The overall impression is realy great. I know Korg Triton should have many great sounds but I havn't heard it and I'm not upset at all for buying a Fantom!
I'm just high as if I took some grass or am drunk!
Can't wait to play on it tommorow, alllllll day!!!=D
thx for reading (or not), lol.
Yours, Guy
In few hours I will get the Fantom X8!!
Heep heep hurray!!!!:)
