About New Successor of the FA Series
About New Successor of the FA Series
I have Roland Fa-06. But i think it's time for Roland to announce a new successor of the FA Series with better organs, better pianos or better sample capabilities. (Similar to Fantom, just like the relationship between Korg Kronos and Nautilus). Because sound and update support of the FA Series is now over. But I feel like it will be announced in 2024, that is, in its 10th year. When do you think the successor of the FA series will be announced?
Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
I think we won't see any new sytnh in foreseeable future until the microchip market is not stabilized.

Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
WOW!
Here's what I have...
Welll I did the factory reset.
Arturia Analog light worked Perfect.
Pigments didnt
Then I upgraded Analog Lab light to Analog Lab V...
IT DIDNT WORK!
Then I did another Factory Reset.....
PIGMENTS FIANLLY WORKED!
I'm totally at a loss....
I am going to talk to Arturia tomorrow about this because it is NOT a Roland problem..
A. Analog Lab Light still works perfect.
B. Arturia Sparks works fine
C. Pigments 3 works....Wow the sounds are un real.
D. my new upgrade to Analog Lab V doesn't work at all.
I am happy the I have Pigments and Analog Light...
But why the problems...
It's I think obviosly not a Roland problem so it must be Arturia....
Thanks for all the help....
Sorry I'm such a Pain In The Ass.....

Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
I think the successor of Fa 06 , will be a strippe down Fantom but with Zencore sounds and sequencer ! And can download sounds from Zenology and sample imports , optional model expansions and supernatural expansions !
Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
I can understand long time users looking for a new keyboard to replace the FA but as a new buyer (less than 6 months) of an FA08 I'm quite happy with the performance so far. However, things can always be improved. I wouldn't mind a V3.0 firmware update just like they did for the Fantom lately. Here is my wish list:
1 - Fix issues with odd time signatures for both creating user rhythm patterns and user arpeggios.
2- Allow sample import to create a PCM wave form and be used on the keys rather than only the pads (they have it on the DS so it would make sense for the FA)
3 - Allow the keyboard switch groups to be changed using a pedal (prgm + or -).
4 - Find a way to create our own EXP files (even if it's done outside the keyboard through a software) so we can pick an chose PCM wave forms from the various existing ones.
With these improvements I'd be quite pleased...

Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
I don't agree! Its no successor to the FA. A successor is something that builds on its predecessor not abandons it.
I have some 300 plus 16 track songs developed on the FA using its midi based sequencer. These can not be loaded into the the F-0 as its only got clip based sequencer. They would have to go into a DAW.
Its no successor, it's a 'start again' scenario. Abandoned!

Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
Agreed, I bought an FA08 6 months ago. Obvioulsy the new Fantom-0 looks really good but Im very disappointed to see that there is no way to easily migrate to the new platform. Very frustrating. I'm still hoping that they will provide some upgrade opportunities for the FA, if only to fix the bugs with the odd meter beats and add the possibility to import multisamples to the keys like the DS.
Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
FA development is dead. Time marches on...as does Roland.
Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
No very respectful for customers who purchased a product still available on the market and displayed on their website
Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
The FA series was already supported by software updates and sound packs since 2014. No product can be supported forever. The time of the FA series is up. By the way Judging by the nomenclature and pricing, the successor to the FA series is the Fantom 0 series. There's a lot of gain against just a single feature loss. This can be ignored.

Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
Its not a single feature..its the main element and core function/purpose of the FA.
Even most DAW's give you midi and audio recording/playback in session/clip AND arrangement/linear modes. It is a step backwards in a core element of music production on a single keyboard which many need, use and love.
Like to see anyone create/re-create the thousands of songs we all have loved. Try remaking a version of Bohemian Rhapsody, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Stairway To Heaven, etc etc. Loops have severe limitations. Period.

Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
As a happy owner of a brand new FA08 (only since last October) I was considering making the switch but I would lose way too much on the exchange. Obviously the Zen-core and sample import are a big plus but honestly what was really attracting me were the touch screen, the controls (sliders for drawbar controls, and the mod wheels and knobs for live controls) and the extra flexibility of the pads.
On top of the financial loss, loosing the linear sequencer and all the time I have spent in the last 6 months setting up Studio Sets for our gigs certainly stops me from making the move... It will cost me less to buy a decent MIDI keyboard controller and get 75% of the functionality.
The frustrating part is that I paid more for my FA08 less than 6 months ago than what the Fantom-08 is sold for today so the FA08 value on the second hand market just dove way down :S

Re: About New Successor of the FA Series
But what's the alternative? Should they have discontinued the FA a year ago, and had nothing at all between the Juno DS and the full Fantom for the last year? Who would that benefit?
The funny thing is, Yamaha went through the same thing, when the MODX (which has no workstation-style linear sequencer) replaced the MOXF (which had it)... and here we are, years later. and you actually can still buy a brand new MOXF6. I wonder if Roland may do the same thing, and keep at least one of the FA models in production, for people who prefer its feature set.
Not for everyone. All the boards with sequencers (from Roland or from others) are also routinely used by people who never touch the sequencers. I'm one of them. I've never used a sequencer built into a keyboard, and I've owned lots of boards that had sequencers in them!9blackoranges wrote: ↑23:29, 17 March 2022 Its not a single feature..its the main element and core function/purpose of the FA.
