This is really nice - sounds good too - great features...seems really comprehensive as a tone-wheel organ.

BUT....

I hope this isn't the only feature in the next release...
  • Linear sequencing (tempo maps, time signatures)...like in their previous products
  • Sample loop smoothing...like in their previous products
  • Sample stretch/Elastic audio
  • Audio input activation per scene, not global
  • Harmonizer - like in their (including Boss) current products - Cube ST2...
  • User chords...like in their previous products
  • Bring RPS back...like in their previous products
  • Fix aftertouch (if possible)
  • Velocity pads?
  • More DAW drivers (Cubase, please)
  • Old tone (i.e. JV/XP/XV style) structures?
  • Better midi clock timing (as slave via USB)
In that order, please!

The other model expansions (even at a small cost) Juno 60,JX3P,JD800,etc!
Analog filter midi modulation capability
Fantom editor (like Jupiter X)
Zenology capacity to load user samples to export (in case the Fantom editor won't arrive)

Hi,

We must they that they continue to improve the product, great, but I never saw any request for rotary organ.
As mention bellow, mains request are improve sampling tools (reverse, time stretch etc….),
Lineare sequencer
User arpeggio

Thanks any to keep improving the product.

I've seen a few posts here and there mentioning it's a shame that with the sliders, there was no tone-wheel organ to take advantage of them.

The stock organs in the Fantom aren't very dynamic, or useful. This addition will be most useful...but I'd like some of the funtionality addressed first, before "bells and whistles."

The last thing we need is any more electric pianos, though!!! :)

How about they do something with that horribly limited FX routing / utilization. It could be so much more useful and easy... I've never seen an FX section so complicated and limiting. And expand the available FX to choose from. It embarrassing how narrow the choices are.

It’s great to see it happening, but I hope they can fix the fast rotary to sound better (and be about half as fast) before they release. Right now the demos make it sound terrible and generally seem to avoid it altogether.

I agree about the other stuff that needs to be done too, don’t forget user arpeggiator and per partial arps like the montage has.

Far from being a fan of the rotary effect, vey boring for me as it goes passing the five seconds mark, I guess the speed being heard is not fixed as a fact and that is it, but the result of a variable setting, probably as the ones offerd by current effects 21 (Rotary) and 22 (VK Rotary), going even a bit further via 89 (HMD Distortion, a distortion-type effect that models the vacuum tube amp section of a rotary speaker of the past ).

Could be, the onboard effects are really subpar for some reason which is a shame considering the pedigree that Roland (and BOSS) have when it comes to effects. It sounds very weird and artificial to me, a real rotary creates a really nice soft stereo shimmer at high speeds and is more pronounced at low, this becomes all blattery and way too fast to be useful except as it’s own oddball effect, it’s like the faster speed highlights flaws in the algorithm.

Anyhow fingers crossed they have time to fix it to sound good,

Why is it that the onboard effects are really subpar for you...?

Three reasons.
  • They’re poorly organized and bulked out with a tonne of combined effects for little reason, there are so many variations with poor names and yet there’s missing basics like a simple spring style verb.
  • Their UI’s are atrocious and feel like something from a completely different unit, no consistency, nothing visual just parameter lists.
  • They don’t sound very good. Really they’re very poor compared to most modern digital effects, and really bad compared to analog even the old BOSS GX700 (digital front end on analog effects), maybe I’m spoiled with the effects I’ve used from Yamaha on the Montage and Line 6 stomp units, or the effects on my Kemper, or the UAD effects, or the effects in Reason (though they’re pretty ropey too), but the quality is just poor. Reverbs that’s sound so dead and thin, distortion that’s just painful, delay that’s got no character, thin sounding chorus effects.
I love FX but where the Fantom shines is in trying to make a facsimile of sorts of vintage analog gear, the effects on the Fantom though are thin and grainy and simply don’t fit together well with the VA.

I would rather have a very few but really well designed and high quality set of FX that are flexible than this incredibly situational multitude.

I agree on the lack of visual presentation.

As for the rest, being Fantom my first synth, I still stare at what I do, at what might be done and loving what I go finding as I walk my own progress. So much fun...

Just curious if any of you have used the master compressor since the 2.5 upgrade. Mine distorted everything just by enabling it after I upgraded from 2.11 to 2.5. I had to revert back to 2.11. Just wondering if this is an update issue. Thanks

Kindly tell me how to use it (master compressor) and I will make a check at the earliest...
