Re: usb
You can't use the Editor/Librarian software via USB. USB is only for storage mode. To use that software you need a MIDI connection.

Re: usb
Actually, with the Fantom-X, you can use the USB connection as a MIDI interface to the Fantom-X, but you must go into the System menu, in the USB tab and change it to MIDI.
HOWEVER, you must install the Fantom-X USB MIDI drivers FIRST. The drivers from the Roland US web site or use the ones that came on the CD.

The question was about the Fantom "S", Nathan

DOH!!!
Damn, you're right Dave.
My apologies, punch drunk. Please disregard my previous message which references the Fantom-X.

Re: usb
well... i have 2 midi cords connecting the fantom to my digi 002r as well...and the usb isnt working at all...not jus with those programs. it doesnt acknowledge that its even connected. no new drives pop up on my computer, and i cant do anything from the fantom either. i know the cable is good, becuz ive hooked the fantom up to my other computer, and its recognized it right away an had an installation window pop up, that asks for a driver (that computer is on win 98) and i dont have the driver for it. so, im wodering if xp needs a driver as well, or if theres any other software or anything thats supposed to come with the fantom that i should be aware of.
Re: usb
You have to enter USB storage mode: MENU -> USB Storage -> select User memory or Card memory, and then it will work. However, Win 98 has problems with USB storage and not all people seem to have got this working. Try Win XP with this.
