Hi,
I use Roland MX-1 with Ableton Live (on an macbook air. External Mixer mode) for more than a year a I have no luck in finding a troubleshot for a BIG problem: without any reason, the MX-1 stops outputting any sound (even external synths not just Ableton’s output). Out of nothing, the sound on Ableton’s keeps going, but i have to restart MX-1 and relaunch Ableton to have sound and playback again. Sometimes I have to reboot the computer as well.
This in a live situation is a nightmare. Sometimes I’ve witness a few dropouts before the BIG problem… Sometimes it just goes without any sound.
Just some infos:
-everything is original (nothing pirate)
-I’ve tried different sample rates and different buffer sizes on Ableton
-The CPU meters is almost always on 39% in my live project and neve goes beyond
-MX-1 have the latest firmware upgrade
-Everything is updated
-I’ve tried in different computers with different OSX and still have the same problem
-I’ve tried to plug the MX-1 usb directly on the computer and on a USB Hub. No success.
-I use Caffeine app so the Mac won’t sleep
-I have the best USB cable for the job (Chroma Cables)
-I’ve restarted NVRAM, PRAM and SMC on my macbook
Everything pinpoints to a hardware problem… With this is the case, can you guys change my MX-1?
Please Roland, I need a solution! I love the MX-1 and don’t want a different setup, but if I can’t find a solution, I will never trust you guys again…

Roland MX-1 & Ableton BIG problem
Re: Roland MX-1 & Ableton BIG problem
Could it be the usb connection? I have had some loose usb connections that cause the signal to get dropped. once the connection is established a restart is required for ableton to recognize the mx-1 is connected.
