"in my opinion, a majority of the people don't *really* need the stuff they are complaining about"

It does not matter if its majority of minority
if some this is wrong, its wrong.
my feeling on the file system has been long documented and Clear.

for further historical and future implications read the info sheet i posted here:
http://forum.fantomized.info/index.php? ... &page=last

people have right to complain especialy if roland dont offer support, mann they dont even have Email!?
what does that tell you?? (keep you comments to yourself where not interested in you emails)
one of my major anoyances is, roland sells you a product and then closes the door behind you and your not welcome any more because we have made the sale, you no longer count and one of our potentials your history and so is your keyboard, and sure it was 3 years old before you got it anyway so its already obsolete.

"I don't think anyone of you should complain about anything. You were making a choice, and it's your fault that you didn't examine all the +'s and -'s deeply. "

Im surprised at this statement comming from yourself, as it is unfounded and unrealistic.

I already pointed out in a deleted post...

the only information that one has to make a decission is the specs which include listed features.
now unless you actual work with the device in a real work situations you are not going to know what barriers your going to hit.

there is no way one can check all possible variables before purchasing such a device.
as i mentioned before you cannot check the reviews because all reviews are republished press realeases which tell you nothing except hype.
and since the product is new, you cannot rely on user reviews either because unless they discover what you are about to then its useless information.
so what other research do you expect people to do in order to find out the eventual flaws that finaly emerge?

"There is not one feature missed or incomplete, there are many features missing or incomplete that don't let Fantom X be a professional keyboard as Roland advertises.

Also when you do some false advertising (translator) why people shouldn't complain? "

Sam,
Just to make it clear. Nowhere in Roland advertising is writen that a "translator" for the FX will be available. All the talking about this is done in the background (as I did when I talked to Ralf in a Demo - previous post) Neither Roland talks about features that are missing in the actual keyboard on any publicity.
Wherethere you think the FX is a pro keyboard or not is a more personal feeling. Personally I Love my FX7

@Steph3dfx,

I'm really tired of writing what's wrong with FX, and I won't do that for the n'th time. You can search in the forum and find my ideas if you want.

I found the Fantomized 3 weeks after buying FX. I played on Motif ES, Tiron EX and FX before buying that. I didn't buy Triton (I even don't think about Motif) because I like FX's acoustic sounds more, and I think it has the best action and hardware quality (motif has the worst). I rely on this two things most, because while I'm working in studio I use virtual instruments and soft synth/samplers for 90% of my work. But I didn't realize that you can't gig with FX (I don't know anything about Triton or Motif. You can't find their limitations unless you have "lived" with them more than a month).

I didn't say that FX is a toy (I have said that about D-beam, and I say it again). FX is a high-end workstation with many fantastic features and endless functionality. But it has some unacceptable limitation or bugs that don't let a Pro to use that without worries.

Have you read this?

Despite what anyone else says, "I LOVE MY FANTOM". I've had it almost a year and i'm still learnin its features. I will admit i was disappointed that i couldn't eq or apply effect to each individual tracks, but i've learned to live with it and work around it. They all got there strong points, based on the user. and I for one choose the FANTOMMM!!!

What makes people think that complaining here is going to make Roland do anything. There is no official connection between this forum and Roland corp.
If you want to send Roland a Message, go buy something else.
Go sell your X on Ebay, listing all it's shortcomings and limitations(I mean we can expect honest individuals like you to fully disclose everything about the product you are selling right?)

"There is no official connection between this forum and Roland corp"
According to Roland themselves they do read all correspondance on this forum

it may not be official but they do read
however relying on on that alone will get nothing done
you need to contact them directly and often.

@fixthemix

In the week that I was playing with ES, EX and FX, I didn't found out the noise poping out randomly while switching patches (you know what will happen if that pops out on stage!)

Also, I didn't notice the killer delay between switching patches because I didn't try to test that(actualyy I couldn't believe that!). I also wasn't familiar with Fantomized, so I couldn't here users complains. (you know again, for sure, that the band can't wait or stop the song for you to change your patch on stage!)

@DogZilla

MS Windows is the Yamaha PSR-1000 of operating systems. It has great features but with a low quality. It's not Fantom of OS. And pro people (for video, music, giging, production...) DO NOT work with windows. Do they?!

When I bought FX I though that I'm getting Mac, not Windows.

Actually fitinthemix, it's on Roland's website right now, this very momoent. Go watch the flash demo for Fantom X. It's been there the whole time..................

So Roland if takes it down tomorrow, I guess that means they don't have to keep their word, or that it was never there?

Take the Flash Tour of the Fantom X. it says and I quote "load akai roland libraries with the conversion software" this very second. Quit making excuses for Roland. Right now they have it on the site:(

I never said that the Fantom line is without flaw or people should stop critizize.
What's bothering me is the rampage generated in the Fantomized forum and the multiplication of the same negative thread.
This is too much.

Art don't you think there should be a sticky thread where we could concentrate the critics, where we could vote for urgent OS repair, and present something clear and intelligent to Roland.
Maybe we could also point features that we all love and hope that roland keep/develope them.
Online petition is also an option.
Just a tought.

On a final note to say that The Fantom-X/S is not a pro workstation is ridiculous.
C mon guys tone down a bit.

guyz,

lets all stop complaining as art said...we are here to solve others' problems not complain and make the matters worse...

ok, we can complain once a while to see if any solutions popup, but complaining without any point at all doesnt help at all, IMHO.

maybe, a lot of you just wanted to express your frustration...thats fine...its over now, u got the product...we cant send it for a refund...lets talk about how we can make our music better.......i am also a beginner, so i dont want to get engaged in an argument of whether FS/X is a pro-level or not...lets see how we can realise its existing potential....i am 100% sure that a lot of you wouldnt have used the FS/X to the max...lets do that first....i understand if someone says that its too slow to load 512MB samples, but we cant help it.....maybe there's a way to solve it...lets find it...maybe someone will post another application like the sampletool....lets do stuff like that...lets stop complaining...

BTW, if i wanted to complain, i can write a whole book...but i didnt want to....i wanted to see what i can do with its existing power....i wanted to create something worth listening to...(still trying...)lets all do that....i am beggining to fear that this forum might become just like the other forums....

Guys, with the "G thang" amongst us, should we be happy with Roland and their latest and greatest or do we accept their ignorance and battle through.

I respect their innovation and think they're still the leader of the pack. What you guys think?

This btw is a great read and a classic thread.
