TFX Select Knob, and discrete vs continuous dials

Post by JustKen »

I took the FA-08 out on a gig last night. I wanted to use the "Wah" TFX on a clav sound so I dialed it in using the TFX Select knob and then modified the Wah speed using the TFX CTRL knob. Problem was, the TFX Select kept slipping or drifting into one of the adjacent effects (Bit Crush or Reverb) quite randomly. Not good. The TFX Select knob should click into one of its several discrete settings, not vary "continuously" between them. This is a serious problem and a failure in human interface design. If I can't depend on a setting on TFX Select (or any other setting) remaining stable in a performance environment, then it's completely useless to me. I think all of the Sound Modify knobs on the FA-06/08 should have had discrete stops, just like the big dial to the right of the display. But it's too late for that.
