Sorry if this has been discussed, I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for. That said:
The manual states that to manage new sound banks, it's best to set up several USB thumb drives with those on it. And loading them as a "restore" when you want to use them. This means setting the keyboard up each time for just those sounds (touch, preferences, etc.), then saving as a backup on a USB drive, labeling it as such.
My problem with trying to just load the sounds I like from the Axial site is that I ran out of tone room quickly. There are probably a LOT of tones, live sets, registrations from the factory sounds I could get rid of, but how would one go about doing that without a proper librarian? That would free up room but... it's so confusing.
I've downloaded KimSnarfs libraian via Renoise and will try that tonight.
But my question really is: how do you guys cope without a librarian? what's your workflow like? Any tips? Thanks!
Without a librarian, how do you all manage sounds?

Thanks GuyM, I saw it and participated in the thread. I haven't yet tested what KimSnarf has been doing but will, if time, tonight.
Until Roland or someone else gets us a proper librarian, is my only choice multiple USB Flash drives?

Well I am no expert yet, but yes I have had to backup the J50 contents onto USB #1 and then use a USB #2 to trial new sounds, make a note of the ones i like, then restore the original sounds from USB #1 and then (using the usb import selectively on USB #2) pick the new sounds I want to add in
It is indeed a bit of a process!

YES, that's what I've just done as well! And without being able to control the live sets and tones that go with many many factory sounds I don't want, I ran out of room pretty quickly! For now i'll just have to have my main USB for my main set up and use other USB drives for specialty sounds like Timeless Synths etc.. Not very good for performing but will work for home recording for sure.
