How to create a reverse piano

Post by realjazzsax »

I found this in another forum. This is exactly what I am needing:

"I need a sustained reverse piano sound that won't cut out and will swell to a loud volume and then stay there. Unsure how to create this. Please can someone help?! Can I assign the knobs to help with this?"

If this can be done on a Korg can this be done on the Fa06/08?
Thanks!

I'm sure it can, provided you use a PCM Piano sound as the base and then manipulate the ADSR parameters.

Most exactly, chose a PCM based Piano sound like the Grand XV and then play around with the the TVA Envelope Parameters.

Example (for both Tones 1 and 2):
Env Time 1 = 25
Env Time 2 = 127
Env Time 3 = 127
Env Time 4 = 127
Env Level 1 = 127
Env Level 2 = 127
Env Level 3 =127
Env Level 4 = 127

It will create an effect os slow rising attack and infinite sustain... play around with this to get the sound you're looking for

I've just done that on my integra, that uses the same synth engines.

enjoy

Hmm much harder that I thought. Way over my head on this one. Thanks for your help PauloF!

Update: I changed the AttackTime Offset and the Release Time Offset to +63 and it created a reverse effect. Unfortunately I have to crank the Input Level to the maximum to be able to hear it.

Did you do this too and still change the envelop settings too?

No, I just did what I wrote. Didn't touch the offsets
Regarding the Level, that's why I had to set the levels to 127.

Increasing the offsets did the job but I need to figure out how to get the modified sound to sustain longer. Even with sustain pedal the decay is too fast. Any ideas?

yes, with the settings I suggested the decay is MASSIVE!!!!

Example (for both Tones 1 and 2):
Env Time 1 = 25
Env Time 2 = 127
Env Time 3 = 127
Env Time 4 = 127
Env Level 1 = 127

Env Level 3 =127
Env Level 4 = 127
