Editing Drum Partials

Post by DEVO-UK »

Hi Guys

I've found a kit I'm happy with, so I'm using it in all my studiosets. The toms however are too boomy and I'd like to take this down a bit.

Would someone be kind enough to walk me through that please? i.e. Where to start and what to alter.

Still looking for the answer? Maybe you can look into the EQ. The toms and the rest have 6 different groups of EQ and compressor to adjust. While you are on the kit, press Edit ,may wanna trim the low EQ. If that does not help turn down the ambience. make sure you save the kit-it should be converted to a User kit.
pg32,39,40 of the manual.
cheers.

Ok page 41 has it but not in full details.....
Go to channel /part 10.choose your drums in Integra 7.
press Effects (hard Button)
move the cursor to COMP+Eq and hit enter. This page must show part 10 session drums etc...
use the cursor to go to EQ (top folder) and adjust as you press the note on the keyboard for e.g note 40 (tom) and adjust. it may adjust the EQ for the rest as the toms as mentioned earlier because of the 6 Comp+EQ groups. save your set!
Good luck!

You've got to be kidding! Not only is the terminology all wrong but so is the lack of routing and editing each piece in the drum kit! Your response to shortening the Tom sample is ridiculous considering you suggest you adjust the ambience and the EQ to reduce how long the drum sustains!

What a pile of doggy poo!

Is there anyone who knows about audio other than this respondent? In the mean time go get educated before you post your opinions on this and waste our time!

Well excuse me....
The topic was about boominess and not shortening the drum samples....
Where did I talk about shortening the drum samples. read any articles on drums and you will find eqing may help with the boominess of the tom sounds. Nowhere did I mention anything you said..How in the world would you shorten the drum samples in the intrgra7 w/o resorting to sample cut-off? even the flagship TD30 Kv does not have these functions!

What do you mean by "lack of routing and editing each piece in the drum kit!" Routing every single drum kit via the only 8 outputs? The terminoloy I used is the same as found in the manual hence the reference.
I did not post an opinion I just posted what I tried and what was possible using the integra 7. BTW, maybe the person i responded could have found this useful..

If you had wasted your time..too bad!!! Now please show us all how would you solve your case in hand. If you can keep it civil, it would be nice..

I have eq'd and altered the drums and others using the available parameters in Integra7 to suit my needs. Not only i adjusted the stereo width of each drum sound in use to get clarity...

ha!

ahem..
It should read "routing every drum sound..." and not "Routing every single drum kit via the only 8 outputs"

"Not only i adjusted the stereo.." should read " Not only that..."

If anyone cares..maybe take a listen to what i had done so far using the I7. all sounds except the hihat and distorted guitars come from the I7.

It is a non english movie clip i played over. It may not be the best example..but it is good enough I believe.

Thank you all

I will try what you have suggested.

For clarity, I was talking about the boominess (if that is a real word LOL) on the toms.
