juno gi versus gaia SH-01

Post by delirium »

Another comparison since kronos is way too expensive for what it provides I'm taking close look at gaia now.
Very cute little board easy to carry around, much easier then juno-gi which requires special bag while gaia fits in regular luggage. What do you think about gaia comparing to juno gi? how are synth sounds? assuming of course we don't need digital recorder although on gaia we have short phrase recorder.

Why are you trying to compare apples to bicycle wheels?..

I just don't quite understand why you want to compare the Gaia to the Juno-Gi, and on other Thread gets even more difficult as you tried to compare the Gaia with the JUPITER-80...

Or are you just trying to justify yourself why you should buy the Gaia instead of anything else?

That's a BIIIIIG indecision !!!
take care

Different ways of working but forget having anything acoustic piano oriented on the GAIA. Also I could not have a 37 note synth as my one and only. My Gi is kicking butt in all areas right now. The Gaia would be simply a slight contrast and a sweetener. If it were not for the third party sounds on the Gaia, I would rock 2 Juno Gi's any day.

well, not exactly since gaia has GM bank built in, not really accessible directly but through midi but maybe there is some trick to do this? like lopping midi cable from midi out to in?

No harm in comparing kit but it helps a lot if your comparing things that are closer together such as Jupiter 80 vs Kronos or Juno Gi vs Yamaha MOX :)

I too like the Gaia but there's no way I would have it as my only keyboard although if I were working mobile it would probably be a nice tool to work with :)

This isn't meant as any sort of criticism so please don't take it the wrong way but you seem to be very confused as to what you want at the moment ? Is it uncertainty about what sort of music you want to create or are you just curious what the rest of us would choose if money were not a limiting factor?

exactly, I cannot decide for a portable keyboard which I need because of my travelling lifestyle.
It has to have killer piano sound, EP's, organs have 61 hammer action keys and fit in 37 keys case weighting not more the juno gi.

for 2450$??? you got to be kidding. Price is completely nuts.
I'd rather buy studiologic 61keys hammer action for 600$.

I fully agree that a consumer would need to be nuts, rich or desperate to buy that controller....but you didnt ask me what i thought.. all you said was "fit into 37 key dimensions" and FYI you did not specify price.

so i actually answered a question you had to the parameters you gave....:p lol

back to apples and bicycles!

WHat do you really need. Im a pianist composer. Im a song writer. Im using an Ultranova and love it. For song writing its great with the computer. I dont need more keys then 37 for song writing. I still get a work out on the keys, its a different kind of workout. Its more focused.... I would still need another board , a larger board for piano.. THe key is, use what you have and get a full workout of create interest.
ANd, keep comparing all of these boards. ITs fun to ask these questions.

I think each baord would work for you, they would each give you a different experience, However, all of the experiences would be good examples of how hard you work and how willing you are to finish what you start...

hey OMNICELL,
that ultranova looks very interesting, how is it keys feel? are they weighed?
I am piano player myself so the touch is very important. Does it have piano sound on board?
18 notes polyphony isn't it too low?...

The ultra nova is a VA synth...

That statement means "no piano".. To get a piano sound you need a rompler, BUT if you are looking for a real synth, it is excellent for a number of reasons..
1' the keyed is from fatar..as all novation boards are
2. The synth engine is a superset of the supernova.. One of the best all time synths IMO the sound quality isf outstanding..heads above the Gaia
3. It's an audio interface
4. Full computer integration with editor and can be a midi controller as all knobs etc transmit cc messages.
