your SW rep is more on the ball than my SW " rep "

I have had my GX kit on order for a month. I did fire off an email to said " rep " , who happened to be out of office Friday.

His cover person picked up my email and is following up. Perhaps I will hear something Monday.

Greg, he actually called my wife while I was at work before he shipped it, to see if I wanted to require a signature on delivery, and he would wave the 2 bucks that they usually charge for that confirmation service.

I got the feeling that(after 2 calls from SW in 2 days) that they felt they needed to get these things out the door immediately because of people who get tired of being promised something, and then being sandbagged.

I waited a while before pulling the trigger on the upgrade, but I began to hear more good things start to trickle out slowly, and didn't want to wait another 2 months or so for the next batch. I hope they live up to their word.

hey John, thats the kind of service one expects. My SW rep promised me the first Kit , when I placed my order immediately after Jan NAMM.

It appears this rep is too busy to follow up. That is not going to impress me to spend bigger $ with SW.

Yeh, I'm going through the same thing at SW!!! I too ordered one of these babies right after the NAMM announcement, but haven't heard anything else since. I know it's not SW's fault, it's really Roland's ( that I don't understand why you wouldn't want to release a product AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE that could potentially save the sales and loyalty of the "RD700GX", especially considering the competition, i.e. YAMAHA CP5!!!!)

~John I hope that the information that was given to you by your SW rep is accurate!!!

~Greg, I suspect that we have the same SW rep.......who is out on Fridays!!!! I don't want to blow up spots by giving names, lol!!!!!

~Sandord, I really appreciate the mp3 demoes and I was wondering if I could trouble you to post some of the manual to hold me over, lol!!! I am really interested in seeing the customization parameters that are allowed for this board. Thanks

No, we do not need to give out names.

In this day and age, a company has to have consistent customer service. SW needs to step it up on customer service. I know they have 1000's of satisfied customers and the various statements on their web site.

I know they cover each others business emails, so being out of office on Friday is not an excuse.

Friday is a normal work day. Even Saturday is a business day, with folks logging in from home.

I don't expect to hear anything until Monday.

Greg, I guess we can flood the forum next week with our reviews. I sure hope that they are mostly positive, as I'd say this will be the only "upgrade" there will ever be for the 700gx.

I sure hope they will release more of these upgrades... Someone posted this link a while ago http://www.roland.co.uk/rd700gxcompetition/
Is the Supernatural Upgrade the outcome of this competition I'm wondering?

I love my GX. With this GX Kit, I am hoping it will be acoustic piano nirvana.

I recall the mid 90's with the the compressed clunky AP's in the JV. Also the bright ringy AP's
in the Korgs.

To have this type of quality at a reasonable price is a treat , IMO.

I have a small home, a 1500 sq ft townhouse. No room for a 7 foot grand :)

@KPro81: there's really nothing of much interest in the manual so I don't think its worth the effort to post scans of it. The configuration options that are mentioned in the manual are exactly the same as those for the stock pianos. There are some installation instructions, the well-known list of 17 piano patches and some disclaimers etc.

Concerning the new firmware (2.0): The piano type that is selected on startup by default is now configurable (SN/A/B/C) and there's a new demo song. I haven't really noticed any other novelties in the new firmware yet.

I saw this thread and thought I'd chime in. I've had my SN upgrade installed for about 5 days now. I had pre-ordered it from a local music store. For RD owners, this is absolutely an upgrade. It's as if you traded your RD in for a next gen board, yet you get to keep the wonderful RD keybed and save a ton of cash. The difference isn't subtle at all. You'll notice it immediately and each day that passes you'll appreciate it even more. At least that's how it's been for me.

I really appreciate the richer low end. It really didn't require this level of technology to fix that gripe, but with this upgrade, it's there and I love it. The night I installed the upgrade, I had just been at a friend's house playing an acoustic. So, I went straight from that to the RD (SN). I can definitely say that I am getting much more of that acoustic piano experience now out of my RD. I have a decent sound system and if I turn up the volume and close my eyes, I can almost make myself believe it's not a digital. Now, if I can only improve my playing to match.
