fantomboss If you want to get rid of the fantom G just because of the lack of one bass sound - why not sample?? Basses are easy to sample and you could have ANY sound you wanted. In my opinion you'd be losing more than you'd gain.
But it is personal preference.
The X series did not give ME what I wanted as far as an all in one composing and demoing tool. The G does - it hints at what could be possible in the future and I think we all seem to want MORE with any device.

There are different needs in different genres of music.I dont want to do resampling instrument just to have more effects.
I am a LIVE musician and for that thing most suitable option is LIVE mode in the FG.Because it is mode that was built for that.
Roland did make a real beast with so much effects in the Studio mode.And I want to use Live and Studio mode for Live gig.But that is not possible becuse FG have a problem with Studio-Live mode switching.Delay is going thru Reverb (M+R) and that is not what was saved in the LIVE.
And I need all 512 Live sets plus some STUDIO sets.And why Studio sets?
Because Fantom G cant make Hammond sounds with Rotary + EQ,Rotary+Dist,Rotary+all DIST effects in the G.
Fantom G cant make Clean guitars,DIST guitars and all kind off guitars that real guitar players make on their own proccesors like VG99 or something like that.
SYNTH sounds with EQ + Phaser + Chorus +Delay + Reverb.
There are just few instruments that need all this Effects mixed together.

Agreed 100% on this my friend. But this can be done with a software update.
And these kinds of sounds that need much effects proccessing in series, like Amp+Dist+Leslie (organ sounds), Amp+Dist+Delay or Amp+Dist+Chorus/Flanger/Phaser (Distorted guitar sounds), or things like EQ+Phaser (Clavinets or E.pianos) could be recreated with various ways:
1. Put the sounds you want in a Studio set, BUT add two options to the current system: a) MFX MIDI CC control, just like the PFX and b) enable serial routing for the two MFX proccesors (MFX1->MFX2 or MFX2->MFX1). This way we can have at last the much wanted Amp/Distortion -> Rotary speaker organ sounds we want. And I mean we can have them wieh FULL REALTIME CONTROL, for use when playing live. In studio situations, we can switch the MFX rotary speaker parameters (mainly the speed) with sysex, but during a live show it's better to keep things simpler.
2. Put EQ in every PFX algorithm, an EQ which would be enabled/disabled with a separate switch, plus EQ pre/post (e.g. EQ->Phaser or Phaser->EQ)
3. Create more double and maybe some triple PFX/MFX algorithms, like the Amp+Dist+Leslie example I posted before. We have two rotary speaker algorithms in the current OS and none of them includes even the simplest Amp/Drive section. Do this and the Fantom-G would need no second or third MFX for each patch.
4. Ok, this is essential and practical for everyday management, but it doesn't necesserily affect the routing: effects presets.
I really hope we'll see some of these needs fulfilled in the near future (not necessarily in the upcoming NAMM show, but soon enough).

Yes we do need MFX in LIVE mode, that's definitely true. It's that I work in STUDIO mode almost exclusively and kind of didn't think about it... I will report this when I have a chance.

Art: If the Fantom-G's DSP can handle a third MFX processor, then Live mode could go on having a global MFX for the inputs (which would be global, not affected from each Live set), while the other two would be one for internal sounds, one for playing and the other waiting in the background, so that seamless switching would not be sacrificed.
And of course the Studio mode would benefit from this, having three MFX processors to play with, with all routing (serial/parallel) options enabled, like those found on the Fantom-X. AND of course with MIDI CC REALTIME CONTROL for all MFX processors.

I have made almost every instrument with complex effect processing in the Studio mode because that is impossible to do in the Live mode.And also I have been added these Studio sets in the Favorites.And everything is COOL.But there is a problem that I consider as a BUG in the effect processor.Many users didn't find this yet.
Cyclops you are coming from Greece.You know Balkan music,Greek folk music,Bulgarian,Macedonian,Serbian,Turkish,Arabian and other styles that all Balkan musicians are using when performing Live or in a Studio,CD's......There are many styles and music genres mixed.
Also in my country we play all these styles plus World music like Pop,Rock,Jazz.....
And in all of this mix we use Techno patches that Artemy make, Pianos,El Pianos,Hammond's....But there is need for Bass and Guitars also.There are keyboard musicians in my country that play Bass in left hand and rhythmic guitars in right hand and all patches that musician can imagine.
And because of that we need Guitars,Hammonds,Synth sounds,Clavinets,Bouzoukis and all kind of patches.
And most of these patches can be made in the Studio mode because of the effect routing possibility that Studio mode have.
In my Country every Keyboard player have almost the same effect combination on every patc or live set.This combination is HALL+DELAY.And when you make all Live sets with this combination then there is a problem when you turn back from Studio to Live mode.Not many musicians know this BUG situation in FG.
And it is impossible to use Studio and Live mode for Live gig.Because every second time you come back from Studion in Live mode there is something wrong with DELAY.DELAY is no more separate effect from REVERB (HALL).Now Delay is going through REVERB(HALL).
And if you use SRV HALL then everything is OK with HALL when you come back from Studio.But if you want to use HALL then you will have more problems.DELAY and HALL will be broken effects when you go to the LIVE mode.
But there is a nice solution for this situation.Every time you come back to the Live mode (in my case this would be around 200-2000 times for one night) you must go to the effects routing screen in Live mode and to go to the DELAY and change DELAY in CHORUS and then come back on DELAY and all LIVE set is now reset.This is only reset for effect processor in the FG for this BUG situation.
And I will going to do this.It is a little bit crazy but I must have decent Hammond sounds and Guitar sounds and many more....
And offcourse if Roland fix this BUG in next OS that would be really nice thing to do.
But if they fix Live mode and import just one MFX I will be very happy.

branko: I would never ever compare the FX section of any Korg machin to those in Roland machines. Maybe they seem so much "deep" and lush on paper, but I never liked the overal sound in Korg machines.

And most greek folk music keyboard players use the korgs only because of their vast sample/sound libraries that are carried from one korg workstation generation to the other. Most other keyboard players use Rolands and Yamahas as well.

I am only joking with KORG think.But I am not joking with thing that Korg is better in the field of effects when comes to Live sets.Korg have much more effects in the Live set (MULTI or PERFORM somthing like that).And all sample libraries from Korg are already converted by me.

I didn't know for this.Macedonia was former republic of Yugoslavia like my country was and Greece is the most friendly country with Serbia and still I didn't know some facts that are not so important for this site and musicians at all.

Branko, am I right in thinking you lose your FX routing when going between Live and Studio mode? Save the 'studio or live sets' as seperate songs when you are in each mode - the FX are saved with the song and not with the studio set, as far as I can see. Ive just set up two patches one in studio mode and one in Live mode with the FX you have said - Hall and Delay - I saved each mode as a seperate SONG, and then loaded them from the Favourites menu - both have loaded ok.

I save Studio sets and all combinations of patches and their effects are saved and they are OK every time I go to the Studio mode.And Live set are also saved and everything is OK with them.But every second time I go to the Live then problem is with the Effects routing.DELAY is just going mad.And it is the same sound like when I put DELAY to go thru REVERB with M+R option.

I dont work with songs.But I know to record something on midi track and audio or maybe to import something.
But what I know is that my FG is always LOADED with first DEMO factory song and when I go back from that SONG I have problems again.
But I can try to make my own song and save it with SONG SAVE option if there is anything like that and not do with the studio set!If you are talking about this?
If you hear the problem and solved it with this Song save option and not with the Studio set save than that is OK for me.There are 50 songs per Project and that is enough for the complex patches with complex effects routing.
Studio set was perfect way for me and that was only thing that I know in the studio mode.
Could anybody please explane me what should I do.To go and make some midi and find in manual Song save option and to make for example 10 pathches with complex effects routing and then to try to go to the Live mode.And save these Songs to the Favorite.But there are some songs in Favorite already in the 1.30 O.S or is it in the FG Connects project.

If anybody want to try this bug than all off you should make Live set with DELAY and HALL and to put some CHORUS and REVERB sends to the maximum or somwhere around 75.And then to go from the studio mode to the Live few times and to play in the Live and listen what is different about effects.And there is GM Template that is last Studio set in the PRST FG STUDIO SET's and this one is the worst ever.Every time you come back from this studio set that have GM Chorus and GM Reverb than every time is problen not every second time.

And because of that I never use Studio mode for anything else nd I dont understand what are the differences between Studio Set and Song save.
I think that every Song have it's own Studio set that you must save.
But I am thinking now I am maybe wrong and if I understand you well you are telling me that it is possible to save SONG and that you can have patches with effects and everything and that this configuration will not produce any problems in the Live mode?????Is this corect????
Artemy please can you comment something on this??ART you know for my problem a long time ago.Maybe you could see something on your G.You need about 30 seconds to recreate these conditions on your G.Just make Live set and put DELAY and HALL and put on both effects something like this reverb sends 0 50 90 127 these are usual reverb and chorus sends in effects routing screen.And make one Studio set or just usse any factory Studio set.And then just come back in the Live modeand play and you will see something is wrong (it is like M+R is turned on and he is not)
And please if you can try something like Tranztek say.Is there any difference if you save a song.Or it is the same.
