audio/midi interface

Post by lapina »

I have a Fantom G that I am trying to interconnect with Sonar 8.5, running on a Windows 7 machine. Since Roland's Windows 7 drivers are in limbo, I bought a Cakewalk UA 25 EX interface, having been advised that this would provide a solution. I downloaded and installed the UA W7 drivers, have everything configured properly (midi from Fantom to US, audio from Fantom to UA, US from UA to PC) and nothing works, not even able to monitor audio from the UA! I've tried selecting various midi transmit channels (both live set and Studio set) from the System menu and, nothing. Do I have a faulty Cakewalk interface? Anyone have any recommendations?

Did you connect it with two MIDI cables, IN to UA-25 OUT and OUT to UA-25 IN?

Yes, Art, as you describe. And left/right audio from Fantom to left/right audio UA. UA USB out to USB PC in. Sonar recognizes the UA as a connected midi device but there is no throughput. It also puzzles me as to why I cannot monitor the audio with headsets connected to the UA device. The UA W7 drivers I downloaded from cakewalk are 64 bit. Could this too be problematic?

(many thanks for your response)
