phil:
Did your parents teach you to respect people? Maybe you should ask them, because it seems you don't even know how to behave when you're a guest. Getting to this level of impoliteness is very bad of you.
If you plan to show such daring disrespect to the founder of the site who spends several hours a day helping people out for free... you better leave yourself.
Never got a cent from Roland for this site. And very proud of this.
youre dead wrong on this issue, and i tend to like your input and overall what you do for the roland community, but this move makes you look like you belong in grade school.

id rather not be banned but if you feel thats necessary go for it.

you should be looking out for the users of this site, not the company that sponsors it but if youre getting paid i guess i understand. its your job. whatever.

Re: ARX-04 and ARX-05 rumoured for Winter NAMM 2010
Art. Quit trying to explain. I get you and I think most of the forum-goers get you. Every forum on the internet has rules. You simply cant have people ruining the spirit that brought the boards about in the first place. Shakil seemed to have it in for the Fantom. Generally bringing about its negative points in a positive thread.
While I am new here, I have been a member of many instrument forums and go into them for help with that specific instrument. I dont want the negativity thrown at me. I feel that if you have so many negative things to say about anything... Why the hell own it? Seriously, it makes good people looking for solid advice on buying a new instrument, misinformed.
I understand the right to free speech, but we are not in a public forum. This is a forum based around peoples love for an instrument. It was put forth to help those understand it better and to help create a better instrument by providing detailed information on bugs and other problems in the OS. By doing this, the community helps the manufacturer(Roland) fix problems in the OS, and possibly add features that were never planned.
I've had a few people in these very forums tell me I couldnt do something with this keyboard, one of them being Shakil, and in only owning the instrument for less than 2 weeks... I have proven them wrong. I am using the keyboard exclusively and successfully, as a standalone recording device for both internal and external audio sources without running out of memory(have 1GB installed). Not only is this possible, but it sounds better than any internal recording I have done(I have a $20,000+ Studio in my house) or external(recording studio) due to its ease of use and brilliant sounding instruments. There is no guesswork with the Fantom, you automatically know if one instrument is invading anothers frequency range and can either pan it, adjust frequency range, or replace it with another that doesnt step on the firsts toes.
I can truly say that the Fantom brought back my love of music and writing, by making it absolutely pain-free to record a professional sounding song within hours. It is what kept me out of my own studio for so long, because it was very difficult to not only record(getting levels perfect, so as not to cause headaches in mixdown), but to get a final sound that mimicked anything close to a professional radio-like recording. The Fantom makes everything much easier and gives me back my creativity, that was before wasted on the recording process.
That is what is important in these forums. Keeping a positive outlook. Looking for ways things can be accomplished, as opposed to telling everyone they cant.
Art, I appreciate your stance. Keep these forums a respectable place, where people can learn. When people spend thousands of dollars for a great instrument, the last thing they want is people preaching how terrible it or its features are. Sure, there are issues, but they are mainly superficial. All in all, I think Roland gave us musicians a great gift in the Fantom. It is up to each and every one of us to make the most out of it.

thextreme1, thank you very much for this post! It is very encouraging to go on.
And this is exactly why I started this place!

I see that Rolang Fantom G users, are really nervous now. I cannot condemn Shakil, seems a lot like me, when I started to discover de limitations of FG, before the last 1.3 release (now is solved most of them), but take a long time with no Roland response, in fact make me buy another gear, that solved my problem in this ocasion. The sensation I have in that ocasion, its beem misled by Roland and the frustration comes, and nothing good comes from frustration. On the other side Art have to maintain the order and cooler the forum.
May I suggest a private conversation of Art with Shakil, putting all to the same direction, in my time this forum its the unique good resource I have.
For this forum I only have Thanks for all support it gave to me!
Peace!

Lisandro, I am sorry but I have no time to discuss anything with Shakil or Jesse - I have already dedicated countless hours to help them solve their issues, and explained what I want this forum to be, yet they never understood what I say. Talking to them is a waste of time, like if we speak different languages.
Re: ARX-04 and ARX-05 rumoured for Winter NAMM 2010
the extreme1 you are so right. the g is a great do it all solution for composing songs on. ive never thought oh i wish it had this or that or it would do this or that, its just great the way it is. which is the first time i have been able to say that about a one box solution. once you know your way around this machine, which takes time to learn, it becomes second nature and it all makes perfect sense. you can just get on making music rather than worrying that it will all go wrong at any time (pc) its hard to think how they could make this better but i would say the piano sounds in solo stuff are not that good but niether are the yamaha and korg attempts before anybody starts lol im lucky in having a gem rpx to cover this aspect when necessary, which isent very often. bottom line love it and would take it over any of the competition anyday of the week. superb bit of design. ps artemily any more synth patches in the pipline as the ones i purchesd from you are superb but you can never have to much of a good thing!

Re: ARX-04 and ARX-05 rumoured for Winter NAMM 2010
Artemiy runs a tight ship that's for sure.
I guess it is to be expected because we can't very well have chaos reigning on what is suppose to be a major company i.e. "Roland Corp." sponsored forum. And even though Art doesn't work for Roland as a full fledged staff employee per se, it doesn't mean he doesn't have to keep up at least some semblance of civility and order on this our > or rather = his, forum. But if we're not careful: pretty soon it might be just Art and Dan Krisher left here on RC!?!?!?!
Wouldn't that whack your brain just a tad bit, huh!
My suggestion would be for Art, Shakil, and Jessej, to iron out their differences and that Shakil and Jessej would hopefully then be re-instated once the differences have been discussed and dealt with and hopefully resolved satisfactorily for all parties involved.
Differences of opinion don't necessarily translate into an offense requiring abdication i.e. banishment from this forum in my humble opinion. I realize Art is originally from Russia?? so he knows all too well Russia's propensity to be an iron-fisted tyrant in years gone by. Perhaps those traits, in individuals who were originally from Russia, still reside in the psyche; even though they themselves favor freedom and an even handed rule as their cherished and committed goal. So what I am saying is, Art might be having this "heavy handed" "even handed" turmoil rolling around in his psyche from his previous Russian upbringing and consequent societal indoctrination. Needless to say though, we all hope (for the sake of this forum) that the 'even-handedness' in Artemiy will prevail, right?
PS: If you guys don't hear from me again I guess you'll know the reason why, eh?

Re: ARX-04 and ARX-05 rumoured for Winter NAMM 2010
Hi Keysme.
Just to clarify a couple of points, Jessej exercised his 'free will' and chose to leave. He was not banned.
As well, Artemiy has stated emphatically that his forum is not sponsored by Roland. Artemiy owns this website, and has generously allowed us to partake in his vision of 'tempered intelligent discussion' (with a little humour thrown in for good measure) as well as a wide variety of community resources.
I personally find that it is the ' excessive pride' of a few individual members which can taint what would other-wise be an almost perfect forum experience.
Imagine a forum with no rules or guidelines with members from all over the world! You are right, Keysme! Chaos would be the norm! Artemiy makes the rules here! We are not only allowed, but obligated to make the choice - to follow or not to follow. I choose to follow because I agree with his vision!
Cheers!

Re: ARX-04 and ARX-05 rumoured for Winter NAMM 2010
Keysme, as said above, Jessej left. On the other side of the coin, Shakil chose to be banned by continuously pushing the same subject to death. He wouldnt listen after being told numerous times by Art to stop.
To me, it is a clear case of someone with a huge chip on their shoulder. If Shakil hates the instrument so much, why not just sell it and find a more perfect solution for his situation(debatable, because there is no such thing as a perfect solution). All he does is bitch about the Fantom, in the Fantom forums!
I dont come here for that, and neither does anyone else. If you want a forum full of anarchy, god bless you. I came here to learn and enjoy my new Fantom with other people. Not to be told everything I cant do(correction: what Shakil couldnt do, as I proved him wrong on two occasions).
I came here to be part of a productive forum, not counter-productive.

I have to repeat myself, but no, neither Roland and nor one of it's joint-ventures has ever paid a cent to me for anything connected with this site. Which is good because otherwise I think I would have certain obligations and be biased in many ways. I consider myself biased a bit in the sense that I like Roland gear and would like to support and help it's users, because I enjoy helping people.
Also, for God's sake, let's not talk about nationality! Maybe we shall remember nazis and say that Germans here all must have inherited something of that? Or say that anyone from Middle East may want to blow us up? There are much more examples... You do realize how utterly wrong you may be with such things?
