Hey Luke,

Don't know 100% for sure but if you set them at FIX the fader settings are for all the Live sets the same right?
If you set the Fader assign settings to TEMP you can store them with different settings for every Live set. Then you have to deal with the workaround I mentioned before.

Control different sounds with one fader would be a plus!
I have some Live sets were I have to move a few faders at once for some 'doubled' sound to get more power.

I Set the "Slider Assign Select" to "fix" and the "Slider Assign Source" to "Temp"! So I can assign the Slider-functions and and I can change these settings with changing the LiveSet cause the Slider-assignements are now saved with the LS!

Thanks for the discussion and solutions to my original post. I can now make the sliders be controlled by the CCs but how can I make a few of them control part volumes?

Well, after you set everything to control other parameters than Part Volume, you can't mix it up! So either u control different parameters on each of the sliders with CC modes or you have to control part volume with all sliders! At my current state of knowledge you can't set it up like:

1: Modulation
2: Expression
3: eg cc025
4. Cutoff
5-8: Part volume of part 5-8

Maybe there's a possibility with the MIDI Filters but I haven't checked out that system til now, it's pretty different from the KORG way of Midi Filters! At a Korgs you don't filter single midi messages in "liveMode" but you're filtering the signals of controllers no matter what they're sending! I know, that has its advantages but also its disadvantages....

Just to show that I'm used to something different (neutral meaning) and that I have to get used to the Gs way of live(mode)... ;) (neutral meaning too ;) )

Hey Luke .. you say you can set sliders 5-8 to control part volumes for 5-8, but how do you do this? Do you assign CCs?

No wait, hold your horses ;)....

I said that you can't set it up like:

1: Modulation
2: Expression
3: eg cc025
4. Cutoff
5-8: Part volume of part 5-8

So this example slider-set-up is NOT possible!... (as told, at my current state of knowledge!)
This thing drives me crazy!...^^

Yes me too.. clearly an omission.

I'd like to set (NOT POSSIBLE NOW)

Sliders:
1-2. Cutoff & resonance for patch 1
3-4. Cutoff & resonance for patch 2
5-6. Cutoff & resonance for patch 3
7-8. Cutoff & resonance for External synth patch

Knobs:
Volume for each of those 4 patches.

Also I'd like to step trough 'pages' of different controller assignments that would speed up setting up a balance between the patches a lot. So saving the controller setups as presets would be essential.

Such "Controller-Sets" would be a helpful thing!... :D...

So you could eg. have 128 parameters *hell yeah* assigned to the Sliders (16x8= 16 Slider Sets) and while playin you could change the slider set via Pad settings :D....*dreamin'*

The Sliders in their current status aren't very "thought-out"

Yes just like that, but in my mind a slider could also be assigned to many destinations, like I could control the cutoff frequency of 2 internal and 1 external patch at the same time using 1 slider. Or assign a fader as a master volume for every patch except one.

I also think the sliders and knobs could use a range function, very handy that ones LFO range isn't 1-128, but perhaps just 70-90. Also in reverse and with different curves.

Yeah, nice ideas....!
And I would like more FX parameters to be controllable!

The "One Cotroller for more parts/parameters - thing" was already discussed and this is a thing that really annoys me! My Triton is able to do that....(just to have said that ;) )

If I could have one thing on the G, the thing that would most immediately benefit me, it would be this - multiple destinations and assignments for single controllers. Roland already fulfilled my wish for the alternating CC/Volume assignments in Studio and Live with the 1.2 upgrade - if only they could somehow expand upon that.

The idea about a pad mode determining controller assignments is also absolutely brilliant. Why didn't they think of that? You can never have too many knobs/sliders! I always find something to put on the PCR-500, which rests just above my G. The one thing that prevents me from investing in a V-Synth is this very reason - that you can't assign it's masses of knobs etc. to control external synths - it'll only output sysex, I think. Right now I use a PCR-500, and it does the job admirably, but the thought of getting that trip pad working...

Today I found out:

The "FIX" Setting deactivates "magic control"...^^ *arrrrg....*
Now I have to scroll through 1024 unorganized totally out of category saved Livesets....^^....thx Roland
