firstlovedan
I NEVER felt you screwed anything or even brought a negative environment. I'm a father of 2 very young boys. So I immediatly understood what you were trying to say and actually Im happy you brought this up.

BUT
If, one of my kids read that patch name it would make no sense for him since he is just starting to learn English. But there are other names, words or phrases in English that can possibly mean a totally diferent thing when read in my own language. So, what is Roland supposed to do? Find words that cannot possibly harm no one on EVERY language? Use just numbers?
What I mean is that whatever you use there will always exist twisted minds that will find bad were it doesn't exist.

In the end, this thread made me look to Patch names at a totally new perspective ;-)

Take care

Firstlovedan... I think you are right about everything you said.

The only problematic thing I saw was to where to draw the line. I believe there is that saying that if you give the pinky, the devil takes the whole hand, and although I am not christian, nor belong to any church, I think that has truth in it.

Once you start censoring one patch name, soon all patch names need to be changed, and in the end it will be just numbers.

And if it all comes down to dirtiness, then the whole bible should be banned for having all that explicit material in it, rape, murder, sodomy, torture, incest, bestiality, you name it. (I for one would never read it to my child, the wisdom in that book can be found elsewhere, the evilness, perversitys and gore can sanely be left out.)

What story would you remove from the bible because of censorship? If it would be removed, do you think it would stop there?

I think you are a fine man firstlovedan, nothing bad of thinking the way you do. But I am also seeing the flipside of the coin.

Nice to see you two talk more seriously towards firstlovedan now, really appreciated.

To me the problem is not so much taking offense but regarding most of these allusions as primitive childish stuff not suited for anything and not even raising a smile - at least not here.

It's the humor of 13 year olds and wannabe adults, and nothing but vain. I would prefer not stumbling on the questionable humor of others in patch names and rather find good descriptive names or funny allusions which are more music related.

If someone thinks he/she feels a deep need to be funny that way, he/she should write a book instead of naming patches - probably a book which no one reads... ;-)))

Guys come on, I know we normally destroy a thread with jokes and pictures after we are done with it or it has been up to long. But we did not give this topic a chance from the very start.

I think a lot of us misunderstood Firstlovedan (it’s a hard thing to explain) and (because we misunderstood) even treated his concerns with less respect than we normally give.
Firstlovedan has a legitimate concern and (I’m sure) would like the chance to be heard by someone (maybe Dan) who will at least take the matter into consideration. And I’m sure he does not want Roland to think this topic is just a big joke.

Let’s show him the respect we would want for ourselves, I know it’s funny but I think enough of us had our fun early on. We should give Firstlovedan a fair chance to be heard now.

This is not about believing the phrase ( Pitch Ben Dover) will cause moral harm to kids. It’s not about church members (christians) being offended by a phrase because they are to holy and stuck-up to read such things.

This is about how the character of the person (a pastor/youth leader) will be scarred because he is seen as the owner and creator of the content within the workstation. The concerned party (Christians) will not understand how names/phrases get into high-tech workstations. And even after you explain they may not believe you, and say you are a pervert.

Example.

Wife- Honey why is there porn on your computer.

Husband- errr umm it was on there when I bought it.

Wife- you lying pervert what? I’m not good enough for you anymore blah blah blah!!!

If something does not make sense to someone they will most likely believe it to be a lie.
Church members expect there pastor\youth leader to adhere to certain moral values.
They want to feel he will try his best (knowing he is human) not to intentionally sin or teach morally corrupt ideas not only to them but there kids as well.

So if the members (not understanding workstations) think there pastor is intentionally dwelling on morally corrupt ideas and sin. Then what do they need him for? they do the same thing and he's suppose to show them a better way. They will simply leave the church and tell other members the pastor is a pervert and those members may leave to.

The pastor could lose the life he loves so much as well as losing the church (can’t pay the bills) and his good name all because of a misunderstanding.

Think about what would of happened if the members of Roland clan believed the lies that were spread on Youtube not to long ago about Art. He could of lost everything he worked so hard for.

But that did not happen because we know Art’s character, we knew it was all just a big misunderstanding. And Artemiy would never do/say the things he was being accused of. I think it will turn out the same for you Firstlovedan, if you are not new then your members know you and will believe you when you say you did not type that phrase.

But Roland, I think you should consider the matter, if what happened to Firstlovedan happens to often. Then it’s highly possible you could lose the trust of your christian consumers.

Let’s give Firstlovedan’s thread the same Roland Clan respect we give to every serious topic. I’m sure we don’t want our christian members to feel they can’t have a voice here.

Thanks Guys.

Umm ... five pages and the point isn't made ... ???

EDIT BY MODERATOR V-CEEOH

With all due respect, this is ridiculous ... What do you want us or this forum to do ... ??? Except maybe laugh ... (No, I won't sign a petition to Roland ... )

If this is the extent of somebody's problems, they should be grateful God has given them small ones to deal with ...

and not like this ...

EDIT BY MODERATOR V-CEEOH

Or maybe — just maybe — the Fantom-G is a devil machine ... It is named Fantom after all ... What good — or God — can come from that ... ???

Diametro please...

I think YOU made your point. No need to go to extremes. I could accept the first pic as a funny one (like I usually do with the pics you post) but the second one is way out of the line and things are going out of contest. There are several things we don't permit here, beeing extreme violence one of them as much as your intention to post is good.

That's an unacceptable photo ... ??? I certainly wasn't advocating but denouncing such behavior ... and reminding others they should be thankful of their own situation and that there are MUCH BIGGER problems out there ...

With all due respect, I think you need to moderate your need to moderate ...

Jeez, the thread was dead anyway ... One of the traits of a successful moderator is sometimes to just let things go instead of picking at it like a scab ...
