USB Driver Windows PROBLEM - Experts please

Post by T14 »

Hello. After a long time, I have traced the technical manifestations of mi problem.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
When I install the driver, no matter what computer or whatever, Windows crashes and I get a BLUE SCREEN with the following error.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Disable memory options of the BIOS like caché or ...

***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x000000C4, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x804F1CS)

Another windows error messages:

BCCode : 1000000a BCP1 : 000000C4 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000001
BCP4 : 804F14C5 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 2_0 Product : 256_1

C:\DOCUME~1\usuario\CONFIG~1\Temp\WERca2b.dir00\Mini071308-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\usuario\CONFIG~1\Temp\WERca2b.dir00\sysdata.xml

-------

However, I think the improtant one is that abour not less or equal, and the stop 0x0000000A

I figure this is a driver problem compatibility with windows XP which Roland people have seemed to notice.

Any solution?
Thanks in advance.

Remove the USB drivers with the USB Driver removing facility in Roland page.

http://www.rolandus.com/support/downloa ... loadId=393

Then re-install the drivers as instructed in Roland manuals.. This would solve the problem..

No, I tried. It does not solve the problem. Read carefully what I've written above.

T14, if you read the posts you will see that Artemiy hasn't used a PC for a long time. He will likely tell you this is another simply another reason to get a MAC and perhaps he is right. I however use a PC and have never had this issue. From what I have read this could be hardware related and the cause could be faulty memory or some other hardware issue. Before you start troubleshooting the hardware I would ask if you have updated the device drivers for all the devices on your system to the latest drivers. I am talking about printer drivers, video drivers, all bios drivers including network cards, sound cards and USB drivers.

It seems that one or more of your devices isn't behaving well and its poor code didn't perhaps become an issue until you installed your Roland USB driver.

Since you say this happens on every computer you install this onto I would ask if you have a common device on all your computers and start with that piece of hardware. Perhaps you have a USB hub or a printer that you always have attached to your computer so that may be the problem device.

I agree with howardS- double check the video drivers as well- I googled and saw someone mention that. Also, are running SP2 or SP3. Also, have you tried sourcing an older/newer roland driver to see if you can narrow it down to a specific version.

Hi, thanks both.
Firstly, I have formatted computers and I still have the same problem. The point is that 2 years ago it worked perfect.
What about SP2 and SP3? can they be the problem?
I still cannot understand, and I keep trying. Any ideas?

T14, SP2 works fine for me. Have you updated all your drivers as I suggested? Reformatting is not enough as that just installs the basic windows drivers. You need to install all the latest drivers for your devices.

Also, were there any common devices such as printers and USB hubs?

Are you getting the blue screen when you install the drivers or when you connect the Fantom?

With no USB drivers installed what happens when you connect the Fantom...does windows recognise it...it should say FantomX USB....or something similar and then prompt you to search for a driver.

Have you tried a different USB cable?

When it comes to Windows errors, howardS is correct - you can only expect me to suggest you switch to a Mac ;-) Having come a long road from Windows to Linux and finally to a Mac, I can tell you that now I forgot that I have a computer at all. Because, in short words, it is no longer messing between my idea and it's realization.
