Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic functi
Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
I think the audio section on the Fantom X is just fine ... my only problem with it — and something Roland has almost unbelievably left out off the G — is the ability to automate panning and volume levels on the tracks ...
I just don't know why anyone — unless they have a lot of spare cash — would run out and reward Roland for releasing such a half-baked FLAGSHIP workstation, this Fantom G ...

Diametro...You are not in the US? TAX REBATE!
Play around money for sure...
Again, however, as long as Roland updates the G to an acceptable level instead of replacing it next year with a GX,
I'll be glad I made the plunge.

tjudge,
What you wanted from the G and you said it could not do (4 drum samples layered on a single key) IS possible in a drum set! That's a fact. You seemed to suggest that was multisampling, which is not.
Excuse us for trying to explain this to you. I certainly didn't want to sound pedantic, but I hoped you would appreciate that your new kit *could* do what you wanted.
You also didn't say in that post that you had owned 3 sampling keyboards before already, so how could we possibly know we offended you.
And please, stop comparing the Fantom G to a car. That's so stupid. If anything, compare it to a grand piano without legs. Still very usable, but with room for improvement!

I see your point too....I seem to be agreeing with everyone.
I am thinking the very next update....blah, blah, blah...until we see it.
OK, we are beta testers, but I kind of like it.
If I was depending on it for my living for laying down tracks, I would not waste my time until these basic functions (moving and editing multiple phrases at once at least) were added, however.

L56,
Read my Post below that you are referring to
BigBrotherMotown , I completely agree with you 100%. I am one of the users who did in fact purchase the Fantom G. MultiSampling is vital to the type of music that I make. I think that some of the basic functions of the X and S were left out that should have been available from the start. I think that the omission of some of these features affect only the ones who actually use it. For example, I do not use the Piano button at all, so I don't mind it not being on the G. However, I do not use the Drum Kits on the Fantom at all. I have about 15 custom drumsets using sampled drum sounds on my Fantom X with the drum sounds mapped across the keyboard. Currently, I cannot do this. I also do alot of sample chopping.
I consider myself an average Joe. I could care less about 85% of the features on the G. The problem is that the main features that I use are not there which makes it useless to me.
For now, my Fantom G is back in the box in the closet. I will be returning it in 30 days if there is not an update addressing these issues.
Roland should make an official announcement regarding update availability. If I knew that some of these things would be added in a reasonable amount of time, I would have no problem with waiting. Right now, no one knows when or if these items will be added. Who knows, we may be having this same conversation next year.

Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
L56,
Now do I mention anywhere in that post that I want to layer samples? As I said in the original post, I want to use 61 SEPARATE samples across each key of my keyboard. This cannot be done.
This can easily be done on the Fantom S and the Fantom X which I've owned both ever since they came out.
My post was not asking anyone for help in doing something that I know for a FACT cannot be done currently.
A Grand Piano without legs is still usable. A Fantom G6 without multisampling is a $2500 Sound Module.
Now tell me your 15 step solution for Multisampling.
That's a joke, not meant to offend.

Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
I was explaining to my coworker that someone bought a Fantom G knowing it would not multi-sample and then insists Roland should fix the 'issue'
He suggests this person should simply buy another G
Not exactly mult-sampling, but I had to laugh.
No offense, but what's the point to keeping something that simply does not do what you want, and never promised that it did ?

@Diametro
Simple answer, isn't it?
))
Because it is still three times more effective, better sounding and much more fun for my purposes to use the G than using a Fantom X ever was...I just don't know why anyone — unless they have a lot of spare cash — would run out and reward Roland for releasing such a half-baked FLAGSHIP workstation, this Fantom G ...

Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
**Key phrase**
for my purposes

Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
What else?
))
Just to be precise: my purposes cover different styles and situations, live and sequencing...
I added the phrase only with respect for those who are totally dependent on multisamling, or on this sequencer alone (not using Cubase or the like), or in desperate need of good SRX sounds left out while much crap made its way into the G.
I did **not** add the phrase with respect for those who don't remotely grab the big power and the vast potential of the G over the X in lots of key areas, and already from the first, buggy OS moment onward ...

Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
My guess it that's it's all a conspircy. Roland was paid money to slow down music production by Sony, who is equipping all their artists with better gear. The poor Roland Fantom G artists can't create beats fast enough, and are losing millions.
Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
Perhaps we should arrange a contest for the best G conspiracy theory. But who knows if the forum allows cutting and pasting parts of it at will?? It's a G forum after all, isn't it?

three times more effective
It may be efficient is some ways but over the X its less efficient in Many! more Ways... (and we already know this long list)

Re: Sequencer no Copy and Paste!? Delete/Erase most basic fu
Well tjudge....
Actually, it's a 61 step solution
You can in fact put 61 different samples across each key of your keyboard. If you use a rhythm patch.
But that's a workaround and workaround's are excuses and we don't want excuses we want results....(Quinxx tm)
Shame to hear the G has been reduced to a sound module to you.

I agree...Even the Roland guy who offered to help here a few days ago has given no info.
I emailed him as he requested and have no response after 3 days.
