That's funny because I understood the Fantom G WILL have [Deleted by Ikutaro Kakehashi ;)] when it ships. Well have to wait and see for sure.

Hey! I thought the higher up echelon at Roland Corporation didn't read these Forums! Not only do they read them but it looks like they edit them too. Image

very dumb idea. I sample like a whore and make kits that fill the whole keyboard... sticking with the X it seems.

DOESNT EXPLAIN how to map those samples to the pads

Post by Quinnx. »

Yes it does...
its says they are automaticaly maped to a specific set of 16 keys on the keyboard
this cannot be changed as sample sets are specificaly designed to be maped to the Pads.
(they are not multisamples)

Its very easy to make roland give us multisampling on the G as quick ly as possible..

dont buy the G
and email and tell them your not buying it and why..
Corporation only respond when it hits them where it hurts
there pockets..

but when people start pre-ordering a prototype and they sell shit loads.. why would they be in a hurry to give you multisapling. (They have just made their money whats the incentive?)
Customer service/support?
Can anyone here honestly say they have ever shown support for there customers?
Now if roland came out with a statement like..

Where not including multisampling because we want to get the product to our customers as soon as possible but will include it in the next update very shortly then at least there would be something.
But thats not likely now is it?

Amen Amen......;)

"Can anyone here honestly say they have ever shown support for there customers? "

Sort of...... After complaining like a b***ch on the piano from the Fantom X which is riddled with low frequency noise, I got a FREE SRX11 - but I did have to buy a Fantom XR to house it ;¬)

After complaining like a b***ch when I saw the power-on magazine advertise the V2 fantom upgrade for free and I'd just paid £50 for it, they sent me my money back.

So Quinnx, you're exactly right - a whole lotta complaining like a b***ch has to go on to get somewhere.

Alway hard though to get the masses to vote with their wallets, the unititiated won't know any different.

Steve

EDIT: Forgot to mention - I won't be complaining 'cos I simply can't be bothered anymore to deal with non-customer focused companies, or trying to change company products to better suit my needs. If Roland wants to shift there demograhic target market, so be it.

I'm both in admiration and confusion of the passion and commitment shown in these forums - makes a damn fine read though!

I know why they did it - they want to sell first all fantom X left overs, then they will add multisamples to G. (maybe)

Well ... there is always Kurzweil

Post by Vlad_77 »

I had not planned on moving to the G at this point. The X is still a strong machine and will remain so for years to come. That being said, I was looking at the specs of the new Kurzweil PC3X. If this board can truly do what Kurzweil says it can, then not only the Fantom G, but also the Motif, M3, and even the OASYS may have a deadly serious contender on their hands.

I am VERY tempted to look at this new beast very seriously and go that route, keeping my X but adding the PC3X. It says it is a performace controller, but when you read the specs, it is SO much more. I am a long time Roland AND Kurzweil user and I was initially excited about the G, thinking it was going to chart new territory, but to me it seems that it is at this point a sort of lateral move. No multisampling but more MFX and a large sequencer. However, the G STILL has the same synthesis engine.

The new Kurzweil has TONS of new DSP functions, their VA system is built in, it has a HUGE number of independently operating arpeggiators, and now they are introducing the ability for users to create their OWN DSP functions.

I am unsure what Roland is thinking in terms of omitting multi-sampling, but mags like EM and Keyboard are gonna smack them for this I think.

Best,
Vlad

No more Multisampling

Post by Quinnx. »

I`ve also be emailed theres no multisampling on the G by Roland
And Will NOT be in future updates.
This has to be a deliberate policy to not allow multisampled 3rd party libraries of ARX cards to be sold and used on the G.
Thats not to say they cant still be used on the X ;-)
